2016 Chevy Malibu First Drive Review: Longer, Leaner & Sexier GM Sedan
//www.TFLcar.com ) The 2016 Chevy Malibu is all new and ready to take on all competitors according to GM. Where the old car was jumpy the new car is low ...
Want a decent mash up? Compare this car with an 80's or 90's Malibu: A mint
fully serviced one, with new tires & stuff, can be had for less than 10,000.
Than tell me why it's worth forking over an extra 25,000 for the 2016
Malibu.
Why pay $35,000 for a Malibu 2.0L 4 cylinder Turbo, that might go 150,000
miles, instead of buying a Camry or Accord 3.5L V6, that well maintained
could go 350,000 miles. In a Car & Driver test, the mileage of the Malibu
2.0L 4 cylinder was very close to the Accord and Camry's V6's. GM and Ford
are pushing small Turbo engines, even for larger vehicles. I own a car with
a turbo that has been excellently maintained since new, and now with only
73,000 miles on it has had more problems, and is much more expensive to
service and fix, than every NA vehicle I've had.
Do your research before buying a Turbo car or truck, especially if you plan
to keep it long term, they just don't last as long.
The timing belt is part of the maintenance that must be done. I had mine done at 60,000 miles on my Jetta, and it was expensive. If buying used, get one with maintenance records, if not you should have the belt changed or at least checked. Timing chains are definitely better. Are the Honda automatic transmissions that fail, the CVT's or the Geared? I know they have had problems with the CVT's.
The Camry may go 350k, but the Accord will not. The Honda V6 uses a timing belt. Its a big job to change it and very few people do. They usually fail between 150k and 200k, on the 2nd or 3rd owner. The car gets scrapped since belt failure destroys the engine. Honda Automatics also fail around 150k.
Why didn't Chevy put a V6 in it instead of this 2 litre turbo. This turbo
is slower , has less power and its less fuel efficient than the Honda and
Toyota V6s.
+Elvis Ghaw I question the quality of any car made in the past 10 years... plastics & electronics everywhere.. scary stuff. The days a big sedan could do 300,000 miles maintenance only are way gone.
+Ronald van Kemenade I agree, they have great styling, V8 engine, rear wheel drive and mine is a wagon, you can't get that classic wagon feel anymore, nor V8 engine :)
+HaconBacon You've got a real car. More room, easy to fix & dirt cheap. Maybe a gas hog compared to the new one.The trouble is, when people buy these new cars they often financing them. While instead they should buy a decent youngtimer like yours, replace hoses, fluids, tires, lock motors, rustproof & stuff. By doing so they'll end up with a better vehicle for a fraction of the money.

2016 Chevy Silverado First Drive Review: Meet the New Face of Chevy Trucks
//www.TFLtruck.com ) The 2016 Chevy Silverado has been refreshed with a new front end and in the 5.3L V8 a new 8-speed transmission. In this TFLTruck ...
ive seen alot on the roads they look great and im hearing good numbers on
the mpg front from forums. plus seen alot of new Rams out not as much
aluminum f-150 still though. but im in oklahoma so states vary.
I looked at the 2016 chevys yesterday but Ill be damn if Im spending
$45,000 on a silverado 1500 same goes for Ford f150..prices are out of
reach for most SMART people,of course the dummys will come along wanting 6
years of payments at $700 a month..f that
Couldn't agree more. If I'm paying 60 grand for a loaded pickup it better be able to give me a blowjob on demand. 25 grand is my limit so I guess I'll be waiting a few years to pick up a used '15 F150.
Think it'd be cool if they made that Cheyenne concept a production vehicle.
The 460bhp LT1, 6 speed manual. 4 wheel disc brakes. Coilover suspension.
Regular cab short bed. Black with red badges. Call it the SS376 or
something.
Most automatics do have a lockout, which directly connects the gears to the engine, but that only takes effect in static throttle situations. Like when cruising on a motorway, which obviously is not what's happening when you're accelerating hard. They also are incapable at downshifting as smoothly as a manual is when you heel-toe. Which can and will unsettle a vehicle into a corner under braking. (Especially a rear wheel drive vehicle with a forward weight bias such as a pickup)
It comes down to how an automatic works. Specifically the torque converter that all traditional automatics have. It's a viscous coupling, which means it uses fluid pushing against turbines to transfer power from the crankshaft to the gearbox. Makes gear shifts smooth, and allows you to creep along at low speeds, but it also means a LOT of power is lost compared to the solid connection in a manual gearbox. This is mitigated somewhat in modern automatics which have upwards of 9 gears in some cases, and by better designed torque converters, but it's still a loss that a manual does not have.
+Harakudoshi904 Yes, unless they're dual clutch, they do lose some power. But I still doubt that a manual truck is as fast as a good 6spd automatic with the same gear ratios. If you have proof otherwise, I respect that.
That slightly faster shift times (I'm talking tenths of a second) really do not matter on a circuit unless you're 100% racing. Which a Silverado never would be. And that speed is offset by the fact that automatics have more parasitic power loss.
I would actually be surprised to see a manual trans in a performance truck anymore, with how good automatics have become. Shifting a manual actually is slower. Speaking from someone who actually drives a manual truck daily. Sure it's fun to have that control of the gears without a slushbox, but it's just hard to drive fast without prematurely destroying shift synchros.

It's nothing personal, but Roman has got to be the worst reviewer in the
world. He lacks information everywhere you turn. What rear ratio are they
using? what are the ratio options? What are the other engines available?
Wheel options? 0-60? Heck--Try driving it on the highway and see what the
fuel mpg number reading is in the truck! And you can't say how it rides?
really? Roman, stop reviewing trucks you haven't done your homework on,
you're embarrassing yourself....
+The Fast Lane Truck A late reply but how long is 'very limited time'? A day? A few days? A few hours? Curious about this. Thanks. Good to see 8 speed tranny. About two years ago both Ford and GM announced they were working on and developing 10 speed transmissions for the future so I'd say we haven't seen the end of the gear climb yet.
its because those are brand spanking new models...full reviews will follow later. I wouldnt recommend buying a new model when it comes out anyway, rule of thumb is: wait a year til they sort out all the minor and major problems, which come with new models.i`m talking european cars here, don`t know exactly about american cars..just a german interested in trucks, lol
+Iddqd _ YES....!!!! My point was,,,give us some real information. I'm going to buy a new truck in January, and I'm on the fence right now. I like the Hemi and 8 speed trans, but this looks good too, I have an Avalanche with the 5.3 and it's a good motor, but it has a 4 speed trans, so this chevy 8 speed trans is exciting, this review wasn't.
+The Fast Lane Truck I appreciate you showing us the truck, I do. If I could suggest adding some tech items and options in the full review that would be fantastic. Maybe have someone drive it who can describe the ride, do some 0-60 runs, braking, tow some stuff up a hill, etc. that would be awesome.
This is a first drive. Very limited time, but we bring it to you first. We will have a full review soon.

2016 Chevy Volt: Almost Everything You Ever Wanted to Know
//www.TFLcar.com ) The 2016 Chevy Volt is all new and ready to take GM to the next level of hybrid drive. Unlike traditional hybrid the new 2016 Chevy Volt ...
+Erik van Erne It's a plug in electric vehicle, or PHEV. There are other ones, but in my opinion the Volt is the best one out there. The great thing about the Volt is that it has enough electric range that the average person would usually not need to use any gasoline for most trips, but it's got that gasoline engine for those times that you need more range.
11:08, you already spoke about the shift knob and smart phone holder at
around 2:45 in the video. You jumbled up the video..
8:19, Not all Volt owners want a car that looks like a normal car. The
2011-2015 Volt looks really good, better than most cars on the road and
without looking weak. The 2016 Volt isn't as bold looking, it's more bland.
+danwat1234 Sure and I want a 20th floor condo with a pool. lol j/k but Chevy said so and they'd be retarded to do a study and not go with the results... whole point of the study is to find out what people want to pay for. The exact results are worth good money so I doubt they will release it for free.
+A55tech I want to see a study / focus groups / survey results because Chevy says that but I don't see data. The back of the 1st generation Volt doesn't look that great but the sides and front really do IMO.
My opinion the best Electric Vehicle with the range extender is the BMW i3
REx, I checked out Gen 1 Chevy Volt and did the extended test drive
Cadillac ELR and BMW i3 REx, I ended up leasing the BMW i3 REx.
BMW i3 REx advantage
1. 75 Electric miles VS 35 Electric miles Gen 1 Voltech, my observations.
2. RERWD = Rear Engine Rear Wheel Drive like a classic Porsche 911 unlike
the FEFWD = Front Engine Front Wheel Drive setup of the Gen 1 Voltech, I
prefer Rear Wheel Drive over Front Wheel Drive .
3. BMW's i Drive more user friendly over the GM's infotainment system, my
opinion.
GM Gen 1 Voltech advantage
1. 335 total miles of battery and gas.
Hopefully i see improvements in person on the Gen 2 Voltech over the Gen 1
Voltech, an AWD = would be a nice option just like the Tesla Model S
70/85/90 D.
i bought a 2013 malibu and it did not have a spare tire storage space. did
not have a spare tire either. whats up with that. does the volt have a
spare tire?
