This is my video about my scoliosis surgery... I hope this video helps anyone who may be affected by scoliosis, whether you are going through this personally or ...
hi i had scheermans kyphosis . on oct 15 i had to get the surgery. i had a
hunched back and my spine was at 76 degrees they said it was so close to
being unfixable. so i had to get 2 rods, and 17 screws going threw my
spine. i had to stay in the hospital for 10 days and i was laid in bed for
3 to 4 months when i got out of the hospital. idk about you but this
surgery was very very painful and took alot longer to recover than
scoliosis. i couldnt been for 6 months i needed help up and going to bed i
needed to get a toilet seat thing that raises because my legs were so soar
i couldnt bend them. im gonna tell you when the weather changes your gonna
feel pain and when it rains . but i dont know maybe it took longer for me
to revover because when i was recovering i fell on my back 3 different
times
I'm so sorry you have to go through all of that! It really is alot,
especially as a teenage girl! I promise you though-- You may feel pretty
bad the first couple days but I'm sure you won't die of infection or be
paralyzed forever! :) Just remember to relax and focus on recovering! The
doctors really do make it sound worse than it is... they originally told me
it would be 3-4 months before i would be back to my normal self, but really
i was feeling so much better only a month after my surgery!
Good luck with your surgery. I had scoliosis surgery on Dec. 19th 2011 and
although it was scary everything went well. Don't worry the doctors and
nurses know what they are doing. Good luck again. If you have any last
minute questions feel free to ask. I also have a video up called "olivia's
scoliosis surgery story" that might help you.
Thanks for sharing this! I'm 13 and have scoliosis, i went to my 6 month
check up today and had more xrays again and im due march 11 for surgery i'm
scared. I don't want to die of an infection or be paralyzed for the rest of
my life!

Hey Jenna, I totally know what your going threw cause I'm in the same
situation as you are. I have scoliosis and can remember wearing that same
day brace all through my fifth grade and when I got to high school and
grade 9, my curve got worse again and was given two choices: wear the day
brace all day long or opt for a night brace was i must say is 10 times
worse than the day brace. So i chose the night brace. I started to wear it
for one month and couldn't take it anymore. All in all, i ended up having 3
major spinal surgeries were each part or section of my spine was fused. In
total from my scoliosis, I have had 8 major back surgeries related to my
scoliosis. I end up having a full load of metal screws and rods in my back
which have made my life even worse. The surgeries didn't go the way i had
hoped they would have gone. My only advise for you is make sure you don't
have the surgery if u dont need to cause once u have it, it's a big deal.
anyhow, take care. p.s. my curvature was i believe 65+ degrees.
i had to wear a back brace to your sooo brave all i wanted to ask is when
you stop growing and your brace is no longer needed does your curve get
more bad ??
would you rather have had to wear the brace or surgery?
