Ooooh, totally gonna try out some of this process and invent some extra
concoctions. I wonder if the soda-method also works for microwave mug-cake
... hmmm. (Also, adding a bit of beer to a "regular" batter, especially
salty snacks or criossants or whatnot should add a bit of flavoured puff;
it does when other people make them at least.)
I figure this method might work nicely with some pancake mixes as well. (I
mean, many pancake recepies include baking soda + sour-something anyway,
some canned carbony bubbles [
Its aliiive! Ahem, i mean microwave mug-experiment yielded good results. I used a cocoa-ish cake mix and cola, and the result is akin to sponge cake (i then stuffed some fudge candy in it just for good measure). Was worried that the cola/soda would fluff it up too much and make the experiment escape, but it simmered down to a very manageable blob. Huge success.
+fafafabigben I want to try the brownies as well. That would use just coke. I think it would work for a mug cake as well. never hurts to experiment. SURGE CAKE XD.
Easy and Yummy Soda Cake! - #wickedKUWL
Who wants cake? Make this cake with 2 easy ingredients, Cake n Soda! It's a "mutant" cake! Skip the eggs, butter/oil, and water. How easy is that? All it takes is 1 ...
Please let me know if you try this recipe out and if you enjoyed it. I love finding new things to try and sharing when I can. This was a must share recipe!
Considering that box mix only asks for water and not sugar there is no
difference in the sugar content of the cake. If it's diet soda it will have
no added sugar. If it is a normal coke it will actually have more sugar
than usual. Otherwise its the same as normal.
@STSH94 you should be able to use that i guess. haven't heard of anyone
using it but as long as it's a soda type you should be fine. i've made many
of these cakes and used lots of different flavors and i've never tasted the
soda that was used.
omg this wuz such a good video thank u soo much cuz i wanted to make fat
free cake and iceing soo everybody in my family can eat it scince fat and
colestroll is bad for u soooo Thank You
Exciting! We are back to the above the cake view! I have three more vids of
yours I have to watch. I can't believe I fell so far behind. HAHAHA I
totally said it with you :) I read something interesting last night in
regards to sinking cakes. Apparently bringing the eggs to room temp is
supposed to help with that. I am going to start doing that more often. Oooh
I like your money shots a LOT. So pretty. I like the combo. Maybe root beer
extract would bump it up a lot. Glad it went @ the party
@yoyomax12 I think that one of the days you are in Atlanta, you need to go
to a few grocery stores and look at the extracts, etc. Also a tortilla
press. I think you will love being able to make your own. I am obsessed
about getting one. I can order it online from Bed, Bath & Beyond with only
$5.99 shipping. I went to Walmart today and the customer service rep told
me that they get them in during the Christmas season. I may wait until
then. Not sure...
That's a wild idea! I have what's almost a root beer fetish, love the
stuff, and combined with butter pecan, it's gotta be great! Side note:
aluminum is an extremely good conductor of heat, so the heat gets through
it to the cake much faster. Glass is actually a very good insulator,
transmits heat slowly, but will cook more evenly.
I made this cake BUT I used the plain yellow cake mix because I couldnt
find the butter pecan version however..I brought a can of pecan pie filling
and added tht! So it had a slight chrunch. It was amazing! Making it for
Christmas. Root beer goes AMAZINGLY with butter pecan. =)
@silverscreamgrl I'm going to try the eggs at room temperature for cakes
next time. I had to move the pan from one oven rack to the next and I
bumped the pan, I saw it sink right away! I may have to check online for
interesting extract flavours, our choices are limited here.
I am thinking of doing a 'chocolate covered cherry cake' using chocolate
cake mix, cherry pepsi and cherry pie filling. I think I am going to use
cherry pepsi instead of water in the cake mix and swirl the cherry pie
filling into the cake batter and then use fudge frosting.
Made this tonight, the husband and kids have had about 3 pieces each. They
loved it! I did add 1/2 tsp of rootbeer extract to the batter and 1/4 tsp
to the glaze. It was just perfect and super moist. Thanks for sharing!! :)
xx
Looks yummy. & Great that it was a HIT =) You so sounded like Beth .. when
you put it in the oven. LOL Too funny. I am going to start calling her Mom
on that channel.. as she always says... Hi kids .. or hey kids.
a slide show of me attempting to make a variation coming in the next few
days for sure!..im going to just use normal icing though and we'll see what
happens...im gonna try a lemon cake with orange pop.
Love this cake idea ! Does it have to be a Butter Pecan cake mix tho? What
about a Strawberry cake mix & Cream Soda? Might be super super sweet tho eh
?
@mrjed357 Hello James!! Catching up on comments. The cake was very good,
but the root beer flavour was very subtle, it would have been better
stronger.
