Is Aspartame Bad For You?
We all know that the aspartame in diet soda increases risk of cancer, causes headaches, and has been positively linked to Vampirism. ... or are those unfounded ...
+Derp Taderp Hahaha! It may just be because of how I was raised and watching my parents, but I've always taken one pink, one blue, and one yellow! I don't know if my taste buds truly know the difference from once to the next, but anytime I deviate from those proportions, everything feels wrong! ;D
By the way soda is bad in general because it contains phosphoric acid which
is so low on ph scale that your body has excrete iodine and calcium to stay
in an alkaline state causing harm to your thyroid therefore making losing
weight a little harder then it should be.
+Brandon Bond Thanks for the comment, Brandon!I have heard this line of reasoning before, and you may have a greater background in biochemistry than I do, but as long as one does not OVER-consume soda or UNDER-consume micronutrients in their diet, I don't see this being an issue, especially considering the fact that, to my knowledge at least, we get phosphoric acids from other sources, i.e. meat and dairy. And even if this slight down-regulation of the metabolism did occur, I don't think it would be very noticeable at all, and certainly not enough to combat a caloric deficit. In general, I don't encourage anyone to drink regular soda, as IMO that's one of the easiest ways to over-consume calories, but I do sometimes recommend diet soda to people as a means of keeping full and curbing appetite (though I am aware that, for others, it can increase hunger rather than decrease it). I think the reason diet sodas are so often connected with the condition of being overweight is that, typically, it's people who are overweight who are drinking diet soda haha! A diet soda won't help anything if you're not using it to maintain a caloric deficit, though! =D
Very low on substance this video, almost like it was flavoured artificially
lmao. Gurus and pseudo scientists:
Dr. John Olney, who founded the field of neuroscience called
excitotoxicity, attempted to stop the approval of aspartame with Attorney
James Turner back in 1996. The FDA's own toxicologist, Dr. Adrian Gross
told Congress that without a shadow of a doubt, aspartame can cause brain
tumors and brain cancer and that it violated the Delaney Amendment, which
forbids putting anything in food that is known to cause cancer.
In the peer reviewed journal, Aspartame: Methanol and the Public Health,
Dr. Woodrow Monte wrote: "When diet sodas and soft drinks, sweetened with
aspartame, are used to replace fluid loss during exercise and physical
exertion in hot climates, the intake of methanol can exceed 250 mg/day or
32 times the Environmental Protection Agency's recommended limit of
consumption for this cumulative poison."
The gurus are in the EPA too!

+Muscle & MagickaScience is good when it is impartial and looks at all the available evidence. But that is not what all science is in the service of these days. Science these days is not pure, so the true scientific and reasoning mind must look behind the science to ascertain what forces are at work and what level of scumbaggery and deception are at work, and it appears Monsanto's aspartame had heavy scumbag backing from the start in the form of Donald Rumsfeld. That name of a known liar and scumbag, should raise red flags. What good is meta analysis when they cherry pick which studies to include in the meta analysis? Tumours that don't appear in the controls would seem to be a study that you should refer to if you have the public safety in mind rather than corporate profits. CSPI talks about the meta analysis of aspartame and the studies they threw out here //www.cspinet.org/new/201312101.htmlBut then that is the sort of corporate scumbaggery that is in line with Monsanto's (and Rummy's) behaviour. Just what one would expect.
+anarchore You are decidedly less hostile than you were on my other video! I appreciate this! =) Well, apart from the jab at my content, but it was a good one. In regards to your post:No matter how supported or unsupported the claim, there will always be data out there to back it up. This is why it's so important to look at the meta-analysis based on ALL of the available research, which in this case, pretty clearly demonstrates that there is no causal relationship between aspartame and most, if not all, of the things it's demonized for. I respect your point of view, particularly because you have obviously done research in developing it, rather than just believing what you've heard on TV. And obviously, neither I nor science can actually prove that aspartame is completely harmless. I can, however, go about making my decisions based on the cumulative data.I don't think you're a troll, so I can only assume that the combativeness displayed in my video on volumization was the result of you feeling personally attacked (although that video had nothing to with aspartame and was way less sarcastic than this one). That wasn't the intention - while I do use (arguably too much) sarcasm, it's not aimed at anyone other than supplement companies and the media. I respect your deciding that aspartame is not worth the risk for you (and I even mentioned in this video that there are some groups of people that might want to make that decision).
