I see a lot of people with drop legs that are way too low and way too loose. This video discusses the why's and how's of proper drop leg holster adjustment.
I understand the point of the video, and I get that those holsters were
meant to clear a vest... but I have a question.
If the shooter wants the holster to rest where his hand naturally falls,
why is that "incorrect" if he isnt wearing a vest?
It seems to me that one of the the appeals of a thigh rig (besides it
clearing a vest) is that you dont have to reach higher up on your waist,
then pull the gun upwards even more when drawing it; you just reach down
and pull it up.
+Michael PooPants There are a few things to consider that I didn't mention. Lets say you conceal carry, would it make sense for you to carry concealed on your hip, but carry on your leg during training? I like hip carry with my single action guns like everyone else does, but when you're doing something practical like this, it makes more sense to have it on the hip.
+Douglas Paulson I didnt say it was "worse". My point was it just seems more comfortable to have it low at a level your hand naturally falls to as opposed to reaching upwards, pulling the gun upwards even more and then raising it to your eye level. Walking with it a gun on your hip gets in the way of your arm sometimes too if the holster isnt designed to be low profile. So I just dont see why its so INCORRECT to wear a high rig without a vest on... Ive worn thigh holsters without feeling like it was doing anything to impede walking like I would if I had the gun on my hip. It felt a lot more comfortable to me.Just seems like the guy is making a pretty big deal about thigh rigs with no vests so I was curious why its so incorrect.
+Michael PooPants You still pull your gun high up. The gun is going to be at eye level isn't it? So why does drawing at a slightly different place make it worse? The holster needs to be as close to the hip as possible for carry reasons. High it lower like Han Solo doesn't make a whole lot of sense if you're going to do any amount of walking.
The drop leg holster should sit at a point where, when standing at rest,
the shooting hand falls naturally on the grip or just past it.
If it's loose enough on the leg that it flops, then you need to adjust the
straps that secure it to the leg.
+Shadow Walkers that's not necessarily bad. i go backpacking and the hip belt of the backpack makes it impossible to use a normal belt holster. it's only a few inches lower, but i only need a few extra inches of clearance.
+J DE The natural reach of the arm is why a drop leg is comfortable to use. The armor bit is for "operators". I like the natural arm extension of the holster being lower. This was a useless video...use a belt ride type as you mention.
+Shadow Walkers Exactly....without heavy armor, the belt ride is a much better choice.

I've been having with my Driver. My backswing is fine but on my downswing
my hips move to fast through impact and I get anywhere from a fade to a
slice on my drives. Is there any drill you know of to slow the hips down,
and make it so that my arms and hips are moving more as one?

+Sam Huff Hi Sam. It is very rare that we see someones hips move too fast. With out seeing your golf swing it is difficult. Look how fast Rory's hips move. What he does is manage the get the club on plan with a square face. You need to look at your swing plane and club face i would say.

hey inshape, so i am a boy teenager at the age 15, in my inner tighs theres
really much fat, in my outer tighs theres only muscles, and my stomach and
breasts are muscular too (fat and muscles) but mostly muscles, but how does
it come i get all my fat inside my tighs and not stomach? when i walk with
my jeans it looks like my tigh are exploding every step and its disgustin,
if i do this excercise, will it tone my tighs? i would be really glad if u
