The LGBT community = your friends, your co-workers, your neighbors, your
doctor, your teacher, your police(wo)men and maybe even your pastor. Will
you be the kind of person to break up a friendship that has lasted years
based on different sexuality? Or, knowingly hurt your sibling all for a
book? Wake up and realize it's not a decadent lifestyle 'choice'. Unless
you all had Jesus floating in one day handing you a leaflet asking you to
sign up for heterosexuality that the rest of us missed? :p
Never give up, guys! Once this PM is dust (and maybe the next one) we will
be even closer. Don't sink as low as the nutcases and 'fundamentalists' who
will end up with nothing once their campaign of hatred and division is
finally lost. Australia knows equality is the right thing to do, and two
loving adults has absolutely no relation to bestiality or pedophilia. I
question if some people should even be married if they're under the
impression gays gaining the right will cause the apocalypse.
That does not apply to people considered slaves, but to free men. Exodus
stated: (Exodus 21:1-4) "If thou buy an Hebrew servant, six years he shall
serve: and in the seventh he shall go out free for nothing. If he came in
by himself, he shall go out by himself: if he were married, then his wife
shall go out with him. If his master have given him a wife, and she have
born him sons or daughters; the wife and her children shall be her
master's, and he shall go out by himself."
That link goes nowhere. Exodus 21-4 states: "If his master gives him a wife
and she bears him sons or daughters, the woman and her children shall
belong to her master, and only the man shall go free." Glad you acknowledge
the bible justification of slavery. What this quote says is that a woman
and a child will belong to the slave owner, with the father deprived of his
children.
The bibles justification of slavery continued into the new testament. Women
are also forbidden in the new testament to speak in church. The simple
reality is that you have to accept all the moral teachings of the bible,
not arbitrarily pick and choose.
