Vegetarian Bodybuilding
//scoobysworkshop.com/vegetarianism/ Being a vegetarian will not reduce your ability to add muscle, I'm one and it hasn't hurt me. Those who think ...
+Halvard Ivarjord because I am not vegetarian, I refuse to fit into other people narrowly defined and arbitrary nutritional boxes. I made up my own term for my nutritional philosophy and I call it "Pseudo-vegetarian". I believe in minimizing the eating of meat but not eliminating it entirely.
Hey, scooby. I'd really like you to reply to this comment if possible. I'm
very skinny, small frame and my metabolism is very fast. I have to take in
a huge calorie surplus to make any gains. I've heard many times that meat
is way more calorie-dense than almost any other food. And I love cheese and
eggs, but I certainly can't eat those two things all day. It seems to me
that I'll have to cram even more food into my mouth on a daily basis in
order to make any gains on a vegetarian diet. Do you agree? Do you think
someone like me should be a vegetarian? Thank you!
Okay. I don't fully understand. When I say I have a fast metabolism, what I mean is, before working out, I could eat whatever I wanted and I didn't seem to gain any additional fat. I always had a flat stomach. And this is when I would eat more than others around me, who had more body fat than myself. Before I started weightlifting I was 28 years old, 5'9" and weighed 114 pounds. I ate until I was full and rarely missed a meal, but I'm sure you can agree 114 for that height is severely underweight. I don't know what you would call that other than a fast metabolism.
+Dooality I disagree with your statement that your "metabolism is fast". People who do exercise a lot have fast metabolisms, sedentary people have "slow metabolisms". My guess is that you are not a genetic freak and if you calculated your caloric intake using my calorie calculator that its results would predict your weight situation.
sorry about that comment, I was drunk last night and was irritable.
What I'm trying to get across is yeah, vegans may be at a disadvantage when
it comes to protein quality. But I'd rather take lower protein quality than
food that will raise my cholesterol and saturated fat intake.
But that's just my opinion as a beginning vegan. Peace scoobs!
+Nicholas Le I would have to agree. There are lots of ways to work around the fact that plant based proteins require more calories to get the same effect. There are not many ways to work around heart disease and cancer :)
