iming on the Frontier KA may be different than the 240sx. Always find a
free FSM (factory service manual) and troubleshoot yourself. When you buy
'well cared for' cars and trucks, its a loaded statement. Remember even if
its taken to a shop to get work done, that shop might be filled with 1
mechanic, and 20 teenager students that suck. I can't comment on your
timing chain because really, 'm not a psychic. That would be like me asking
you what kind of condition my laptop is in. Cheers.lol
@PrettyBoy2142 My video does not show the upper timing tensioner installed.
If you notice on the passenger side (intake side) of the engine, there is a
spot for a tensioner. You should have one there to remove all slack in the
upper timing chain. There is also a tensioner fro the lower timing chain.
The lower timing chain tensioner pushes on that big arm also on the same
side. Refer to Factory service manual or 240sxtechdvds-org for more info on
the KA engine.
Just replaced the head gasket on my 97 240sx yesterday. Marks where gone,
so I just put #1 cyl to TDC(top dead center) and put the cams where the
first lobe of each where facing away. Once done, it fired right up. May not
be the best way but it is my only ride to work. Took about 6-7 hrs and some
busted knuckles from start to finish. Good informative video, watched it
before I even opened the hood lol. Thanks!
Hey me and my friend are just getting done rebuilding his ka24de. Its all
stock but we have problems with the timing, your explanation clears this up
pretty good. So great video, but 1 questions. When everything is lined up
perfectly like yours, I notice that there is a lot of slack in between the
cam sprockets. Is that slack ok? Will it just go away, or what can I do
about it?
Not 100% familiar with the truck engine vs my 240 engine, however, if its
missing, it could be anything from Dizzy, coil, points etc. Timing is the
full package, and I've not done a video on how to install a Dizzy yet.
There is a chance you have yours installed 180 degrees out.
When you.line up the marks are thay sapose to only line up once. Because im
havin trouple with mine I line them up do a full rotaion of the motor and
wen I put it back to tdc the cams are lined up right but the paint marks
are off.
your engine is to the left on the stand mine is in the frontier truck and
to the right but lobs r the same does that matter please reply cause i have
mine set to yours and it still missing
You are the 2nd person to say something to this, I did not put the wrench
on the lobes.... please link me to the exact time in the video where you
are seeing this.
