What a deadbeat lame audience. Their lack of presence is awkward with all
the vibes he's sending out. It hurts my feelings for him that he couldn't
even get them to relax...this wasn't that long ago really...bunch of
stiffs. Now and then. Lol
+Jem M Elvis hade it all and was truly Amazing but like you said the audience was pretty lame.Specially the Girls in the front row. They probably got paid for just sitting there, looking pretty, clap and smile and Elvis probebly knew that but its no denying that all Elvis live performances, movies, his songs, his personality and Amazing Life on this Earth Always will be remembered.A star in Life a legend for eternity.
+Jem M The audience at NBC Studios is told before show what to do, how to act. It's a show filmed for TV and they don't want an audience screaming or clapping too much or at the wrong times. I was at NBC Studios a few times around this same time in LA-Burbank and someone would come out and talk to us before a show began and give us some instructions.

elvis in the early 70s!!!! "Avaible on Special Edition DVD by Warner Bros"
Elvis Presley Live In Las Vegas 10 August 1970 Opening Night - with new audio
Recently the audio for this concert was released for the first time as Disc 2 of the TTWII Deluxe Edition wonderfully remastered by Sony's genius Vic Anesini who ...
not even Jackson came close! even though he is the king of pop.Elvis was
for the people. that's why he is loved today. and forever.total respect to
the king!!!!!
+Jean Burdine Hi Jean. Do you mean 8 CD or 2 CD TTWII because the 8 CD is over £100.//www.amazon.co.uk/Thats-Way-Elvis-Presley/dp/B00KGMTJFE/ref=sr_1_3?s=music&ie=UTF8&qid=1445100463&sr=1-3&keywords=elvis+thats+the+way+it+is
+Scott Williams In comparison to the original version of the RCA master I would tend to agree Scott. However bear in mind that this audio is from the new 2014 Sony TTWII Deluxe set . If you listen to I Just Can't Help Believing from the original album and then to this video below with the new audio from the new box set (remembering that they are both the same recording) then some subtle differences make them sound almost completely different and for the better. There are two main differences which really stand out. Firstly, Charlie Hodge's harmony vocal is erased on this version in order to give complete attention to Elvis' wonderful vocal performance and secondly during the instrumental break the Trombones are moved back and the strings moved forward which make it sound more like the movie and improves it considerably!!!!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qXgLArqXLMw
Thank you so much for these concerts! You have no idea how much I've wanted
to see them in full. I wonder why they won't officially remaster/release
them?
+Leon Smith Thanks for posting this. Beautiful concert. You can tell he was a little nervous, being the opening night. Regardless, he did an outstanding job in this concert. Very good music.
+Kipsta Hi Kipsta. I've had this discussion a few times on various Elvis forums and I've came to the conclusion that it isn't commercially viable for Turner/MGM (in their opinion). There would undoubtedly be a clamour from Elvis fans but not from the public at large. Also the cost for the general public would be too expensive - the TTWII Deluxe box set from which this audio is taken costed over £100 new and that was 2DVD's and 8CD's - over half of which was previously released material. Unfortunately in addition I think that MGM have missed the boat anyway as the aforementioned boxset would have been the ideal opportunity to release much of this material but instead they chose just to include the two existing movies in the package.
+Lisa Riseborough i was little when he died too...I remember my parents crying. I went to Graceland years ago with my mom...its a must for any true Elvis fan.
+brandon242 i agree i was a little girl when he died and cried all day. i clearly remember it on the news going to graceland is on my bucket list. an amazing singer unique talent .
+brandon242 Im always saying exactly the same thing!! I live in Cyprus and we have a great tribute artist Marios Kombou (check him on youtube) and he comes here a lot so its something
"Oh I wish I was in the land of Cotton, old times there are not forgotten,
Look away, look away, look away Dixieland."..I wish I was in Dixie... In
Dixie Land I'll take my stand to live and die in Dixie. For Dixieland's
where I was born, early Lord one frosty morn', look away, look away, look
away Dixie Land."
Nobody sang this from the heart like Elvis. What better than to hear the
ultimate true great southern gentleman Elvis Aaron Presley, a native of
Mississippi sing this!
With all the vicious attacks by the press and people on all things southern
lately, it's nice to listen to Elvis sing with pride and endearment about
his southern roots! His true home.
+Steve StevensExactly! Most southerners today 'are' patriots. But at the same time they 'are' proud of their southern birth heritage. I say, "birth heritage" because of the fact that some of these anti-south people that try to make an argument against southern pride and heritage don't seem to understand. Those people don't even bother to consider the definition of heritage in the context of birth origins. Or if they do, they just choose to ignore it in lieu of their own prejudiced agenda of hatred towards the south. The definition of heritage can be somewhat broad. But when southerners speak of their "southern heritage", they are drawing on 'this' definition as is reflected from merriam-webster."Definition of HERITAGE: something possessed as a result of one's natural situation or birth : birthright".That birthright being, "I was born a southerner or am a descendent of a long line of southerners." It's that simple. It's not complicated and convoluted like many of these ridiculous 'anti-south' people try to make it.If southerners want to be proud of being southern, then that's their right. Just like Elvis. :-)The more that people from outside the south try to beat southerners down with all their rhetoric, the prouder those southerners will be. As a group they sort of start to feel like the underdog. Against all odds. And that usually will strengthen their resolve to stand tall.I encounter people that never miss an opportunity to make snide demeaning remarks about southerners in general. (Many of who have never even lived in the south or known many southerners. Just what they've heard or been taught over the years in environments they've grown up in, lol) It's mostly just mean-spiritedness and going along with the mob. It's ironic, the ones who constantly bad-mouth southerners all the time are the ones exhibiting the most hateful attitudes. As well as they generalize a lot.
+39thala Yes Sir! The interesting part is, that Elvis also sings the union song (Glory Halel.) as well as the negro spiritual (all my trials) with the same honesty, with the same heartfelt truth, so in the end of the day he was the great unifyer, just by singing these songs in the way he did. There is nothing wrong with being proud of ones roots, but these days the media and the politicians make it seem like only if one is black, hispanic, or asian, one can be proud of his or her roots! I am a white, christian, heterosexual male and it seems it does not be okay, that I am proud of my ethnic and cultural background. I am proud to be a descendant of the great German Musicians (Bach, Beethovem, Wagner, Schmann, Schubert), the great Writers and Phillosophers (Goethe, Schiller,. Heine, Lessing, Hegel, Wittgenstein, Nietsche) and Inventors (Daimler, benz, Otto, Diesel, Wankel and many many more,), so I will show that I am in no way shape or form ashamed of me being white, heterosexual christian male!
+Coolrockndad Not a racist song so far as I'm considered, just one that a lot of traitors sang. I'm unaware of direct racist imagery in Dixie, except for the whole "cotton picking" thing, which was more about economics than race.
+tragicmia305 Who's acting like a victim? This has nothing to do with me. .... I'm simply stating "anything today seems to be turned into a racist issue, by the Left, including a song with references to the South". ..... Troll on down to a Miley Cyrus YouTube please.
+Terry Gissing Would you mind listing them since you said I have them? .... Using the term "mate" means most likely you're not from the U.S. and have no idea how anything today seems to be turned into a racist issued, by the Left, including a song with references to the South. ..... No hit and runs please.
+tragicmia305 Do some research and see just how bad racism was in the 60's and before, then you'll have a true reference. ..... FBI facts will help you. Try starting there. .... As far as the "PC booogeyman" being out to get you, just ask anyone who's not that big on Obama. The PC crowd will label you as a racist.
+tragicmia305 My friend, my opinions would lead us into many arguments. And I love to argue. But this was one of my mothers favorite songs so i am trying to be magnanimous.
lol what facts? You've literally said nothing but opinions. Let's not start confusing those with facts. Your original comment was about this hypothetical scenario where these PC Boogeyman are out to getcha. Kinda how the guvment is out to get yer guns lol
+Jon Bishop Oh course you can't change history and you should never change history BUT the only people trying to change history now are the PC crowd. We are talking about today and not what happened 50 years ago. Yes never forget BUT lets not pretend it's still the same for it's NOT!
+Jon Bishop Cut the crap, this isn't the mid 20th century, for most of the South is diluted with people from all parts of the U.S. ... Take you Sharpton/Obama BS somewhere else.
+Coolrockndad People forget how many poor people fought for the South, or that many black soldiers fighting for the North were not treated well.Elvis had many black backing singers.
+Coolrockndad You took the thoughts right out of my head. They just think they are so much better than Elvis they probably would never dare watch his videos or listen to his music. Look away Dixieland ~ I am from Dixieland and I love it!!
I just love this, the more I see it, oh my goodness!!! That red sign and
Elvis in a beautiful white suit, then flashbacks in black leather, and a
voice so powerful... all I can say, STUNNING
+eva kirkpatrick I feel same Eva. I was 16 in 1968. I watched a video on the Vietnam War Memorial and made me cry. War is such a sad and horrific thing. One of the boys who died at age 18 grew up with us in the country and our church afterwards put up a beautiful gold gate memorial for him as you enter the small little church. So people there are always reminded of his sacrifice and so many more. He died in 1969 or 70. Have a beautiful day !
+MaryElizabeth99 I read of a good friend who died there, I think of him still. I don't think I wanted to pick up the newspaper, in fear of who might be next. I was 17.Remember hearing of our causalities, trying to make since of the war.How brave our service men and women TRULY are!!! God bless them All.
+eva kirkpatrick Eva, did you know the red tie represents those who fought and died in Vietnam? I watched a special a week ago and learned that Bill Belew gave the red tie to Elvis to wear and told him what it represented--red being the color of blood. It moved Elvis very much. So this song represents much.
+Kate F i take it you're a Brit? If my suspicion is correct then you better start worrying about Muslims cause they are taking over your country. Praying for you guys.
