Absolutely loved it! I think 'left brain' and my 'pet orangatang' must have
had the same father! Only difference being left brain cottoned on to what
he had done wrong and brazened it out, my 'pet' wouldn't have worked it
out! Although, to give him his due, he once went to the PO to post letters
and got half way back when it dawned on him that post boxes aren't green!
He went back to the PO to discover he'd put the letters in the rubbish bin!
Have watched all the videos now, love them. Thank you
Jeanne, I love you. I've been listening to you on Sirius Radio for quite a
while. I'm pleased to find this on You-tube so I can show my friends. You
and Left-brain are my husband and me in 20 years. We laugh and shake our
heads in complete recognition at this sketch and the "Fashion in New York
City" one. This is exactly why I do not send Mudd to the grocery store. And
the Hawaii one is why i don't let him pack when I have to got to a
convention. (I'm a romance novelist) Thanks!
Now this IS funny!!!! I have never heard Jeanne Robertson before but I was
listening to another video of singing & this was in the side column so
thought I would click on it to listen (the title caught my attention). Then
when I scanned down thru the left column of "this" page & saw Chonda Pierce
I was excited cause I felt maybe Jeanne was as funny as Chonda, I WAS
RIGHT!!!! Thank you Jeanne Robertson for posting these videos & sharing
your talents with the world.
A dear friend of mine sent me the audio of your 'Don't send a man to the
grocery store' more than a year ago so when I discovered your website I
returned the favor so she could enjoy the videos on there. Thank you
doesn't begin to cover how much I appreciate and enjoy your humor. I am a
firm believer finding humor in the every day happenings of our lives. My
Mom is 96 and still makes us laugh all the time! God bless you and Jerry as
you follow your passion!
Back in the day, when I collected "Miss America's," I had pics, autographs,
& letters of every beauty queen, right down to Miss Watermelon Seed (not
really). Anyway, the year after Maria Beale Fletcher of Asheville won Miss
America, NC proudly sent one of the best-loved non-winners to Atlantic City
- Jeanne Flynn Swanner, over 6' tall and played the ukelele. She didn't win
the pageant, but she easily won 'Miss Congeniality!" Have loved her ever
since!
Wow! Thanks. What fun. Hope they like the story and the recipe. "Taste of
the South" magazine made it in the test kitchen and pronounced it good! Did
a story on it which is on my website. You won't believe it. My mother died
in 35+ years ago and I've sill got some of her dishes and ... and things
she said always pop into my mind. Wish I could have met our "Southern
tradition Mom." Keep laughing! Jeanne
Heard the bat story on XM on a drive back from Arkansas to Tennessee. We
were on a two lane through an agricultural area (what part of Arkansas
isn't?) and we laughed so hard we almost couldn't hear the sound of the
bugs hitting the car. Your humor took my wife's mind off the "bug-hail"
hitting her car. . . .dome were so big, sounded like we were hitting birds.
Thanks for your clean, southern humor.
I discovered your humor via a Facebook posting--and you rock! Real, clean
humor that you don't have to "clean up" is fantastic. I loved the raft ride
description...and all of the others I listened to this evening--and I've
personally learned the risks of sending "Left Brain" to the store. Humor
has gotten me through the toughest times in my life, and I love to see
others celebrating humor too!
There was no way I was going to pass up a video entitled, "Don't Send a Man
..." It did not disappoint!! I'm still laughing over Left Brain's hiccup -
bless his heart! I've found, over the years, that it's best to use a dash
or an asterisk rather than number on my grocery list for my own "Left
Brain". I get what I need, and he gets out of the store via express lane!
America's Test Kitchen has an entry today on their Facebook page about 7-up
cake. Naturally, I HAD to send them the link to this. I still laugh every
time I see. I inherited the Tupperware and dishes my mother used to take
food to friends. It's delightful to hear your hysterical story about our
Southern traditions. Mom would have been in stitches hearing you speak.
Just discovered you via an email from a Ham friend in Montana, the Colorado
Raft ride :-). Both my wife and I laughed our heads off. Put me in mind of
Phyllis Diller. I came searching for more of your vids. Great Stuff. Will
sure try to get to see you if you do some kind of public performance over
here. Oh, I'm a right-brained, left-brain, if you get my drift.
What I enjoy most about your humor is that I, too, am married to a Left
Brain. My father who passed 9 years ago (& was an engineer!!), used to say
"When you ask Dan what time it is, he'll tell you how a watch works & in an
hour you WILL know how to make a watch, but you still won't know what time
it is..." Thank you so much for your wonderful videos......
On a lighter note.................you southerners will get this. You
northerners will not. I used to be a west (left) coast woman and then made
the questionable decision to move to Kentucky. I didn't get it at first but
I sure do get it now because it is ALL true! They don't do this kind of
stuff in California. No one eats there. Just twigs and branches!
I had no idea who this woman was but I could tell just from looking at her
that she was a Christian. I'm not a Christian so I was just waiting for her
to start preaching, and I was surprised that she didn't get around to it
during this clip. Anyway. I enjoyed the clip. It was a funny story and she
told it well.
I had the pleasure of hearing you tell us this and many other great stories
about you and LB at The Southern Lady's Conference, where Paula Deen was
another speaker, several years ago, and have laughed over these great
stories may times. I appreciate your gift, and hope to see you in person
again soon. :D
About 8 years ago, I moved up to Buffalo from Fayetteville, and this is the
first time since then that I've had the pleasure of hearing a "real
Carolina accent." It takes me way back to my school days, when all of my
teachers were Southern ladies. Ms. Robertson, you are just so lovely and
precious!
I so wish I would have known about you and your stories Jeanne! Fantastic
to hear such good, clean, authentic humor :D Could listen to you for hours
and if you're ever speaking anywhere within a day's drive from where I live
in NW New Brunswick, Canada, I'll be there! Thank you for sharing here.
First heard you on Sirius satellite radio. Got your CD for my mom for last
xmas. Love every bit I've heard. You're right, enjoy life and see the humor
in everything. For some reason, this bit came to mind and had told my
girlfriend. Lo and behold, it was on YouTube and she loved it!! Thanks!!
My mom sent me the MP3 version of this to me a while back. She passed
earlier this month very suddenly and I've had an extremely difficult time.
I had my ITunes on random, and this MP3 came up. I suddenly felt like she
was sending me a joke and a smile from the other side. Thank you for that!
Oh boy haven't laughed so much in ages..although I'm English I could
appreciate Jeannes American sense of humour...Thanks for sharing...off now
to find some more...Once again Thanks...As Jeanne would say I laughed so
much I thought my waters broke. Barbara Clough West Yorkshire England....
A friend told me you were here on YouTube. So glad I found you. I listen to
XM radio with anticipation that you will be on during my drive. A huge
smile comes across my face as soon as I hear your voice. I'm a southern
girl, too, and can certainly relate. Thank you for sharing. Cheryl
XM Radio posts a few of her talks, and both my wife and I have to listen to
her. I love how she sets up jokes with long stories and funny anecdotes in
between. Her method reminds me a lot of Bill Cosby. Thank you Jeanne!
Please keep going - we hope to see you in person sometime.
You are wonderful, we have enjoyed listening to you so much. I love good
clean comedy. I have sent this to many of my friends and family. My husband
is very very smart, has those "IMPORTANT DEGREE'S" too, but alas also the
left brain!!! Thank you for the laughs.
Jeanne, I am just hearing you for the first time and I get that you are
from somewhere in the south. My parents live in Pine Bluff, Arkansas and I
live in Michigan. Listening to your heartfelt stories reminds me of them
and I like thank---thanks for the laughs!
