@banglefaar He was often forced in to backstory by the others because he
was reluctant to talk about himself. His backstory ended up getting
confused because he wanted to be someone he's not [aka Zack, sorry if it
spoiled anyone but it should be common knwledge by now]. He feels he must
kill Sephiroth yet he couldn't right up until the final battle, despite the
fact he had enough strength to do that before JENOVA messed about as much
as she did thanks to Hojo [which is a very Sasuke thing to do]
@shadowtsunami (1)I can name alot of games with different outcomes and
non-linear gameplay actually but why bother? XIII was modeled for the KH's
fans, bottom line. Never before have I seen character act so dumb an
oblivious to everything going on around them. A gun fight is breaking out
and the people in Snow's resistance are asking if they can nap. For the
first 3-4 hours of the game, I had no idea what the fuck was going on with
all the terminology (forcing you to read datalogs) and so forth.
@banglefaar There are a lot more games that have a linear style than non
linear, it is probably 3 or 4 to one, 13 wasn't modeled after KH fan base
it was modeled after 12 especially the battle system(which sucks main
character die the party dies). And yes i agree that the first 3-4 hours of
the game i too had no idea what was going on that is why i started over
from chapter 11 XD. But seriously it is far from the worse in the series.
10-2 was like straight up fan base. Hopefully 13-2 is better.
@KefkasInsanity Once again you fail to see the real point: I'm not a VII
fanatic. IX is my favorite, followed by VI and then XII. I enjoy exploring
the worlds, characters and settings involving both in my Final Fantasy
games. IX has the most exploration and a fairly decent story (if you
actually go in depth with it). VI has incredible characters and an awesome
storyline (including Kefka who actually DESTROYS the world and isn't crying
about his mom...Sephiroth). So what are you talking about?
@shadowtsunami (2) Every character is completely moronic. They modeled
Lightning to be a female Cloud. Square-Enix denies this now, but I remember
clearly reading about it back when the game was in development. Hope could
only express things by bitching and whining, Vanille acted like she had no
idea what the fuck was going on aside from not knowing the natural color of
the sky. Snow wouldn't go 2 seconds without bringing up saving the world or
fucking Serah. I will agree about Sazh though.
@KefkasInsanity (1) I felt Cloud was alot more tolerable as a main
character. He had alot of psychological issues which led to an identity
crisis. I just felt I could connect with him more than fuckhead Squall.
This is a stupid cunt of an asshole that has 3 women creaming their panties
on him and all he can think of is besting Seifer and moping about how he
can't trust anyone. He was a dick to all his teammates until the very end
where he was alright. He pissed me off the first 3 disks...
@shadowtsunami (3) He deserved to be in a much better game. But the fact is
this game received ALOT of negativity from the fanbase. Then Square
released sorry ass XIV knowing the little kiddies would buy and play it
regardless of whether it was full of bugs or not. They can't make their
annual quota now thanks to their half-assness and made an announced sequel
to XIII even though it was never mention in the fabula nova crystallis line
up to make ends meet. Versus XIII looks HORRIBLE...
@banglefaar As for issues with FF14, thats mostly due to being an
unfinished game at release, not because of age-specifics. From what little
I could play of it [These issues plus a sub-par PC atm makes for a crapton
of lag] it's not that different from FF11, just with superior graphics. I
welcome that since I could only get up to an 800x600 ratio on FF11, and my
sreen is set to 1380x780. It made the game look very pixely. Otherwise, I
don't think there's much difference between them.
@KefkasInsanity (2) That's about the same equivalent of you dealing with
Cloud for 3 disks as well. I guess that calls it even and it's really all
an opinion...unless if it comes to XIII or X-2. Fuck both of those games.
Also, yes, I know you are a VI fan, I had no doubt in my mind. I just
didn't want you claiming me to be a fanatic of VII just because I defended
Cloud and what I believed to be a better character than Squall. I feel the
emo main character cliche came from Squall lol
@shadowtsunami (1) XIII was not based on XII's fanbase because for the most
part, all the little kiddies hated XII due to it's political storyline,
deep combat system, exploration and a main character that wasn't a stupid
emo cunt. XII was actually a decent game with an excellent cast and
storyline. Hell, it's the first FF in ages to have an antagonist that
doesn't come from fucking no where and shouldn't be a last boss! So I
disagree with you ragging on XII. Far better than XIII.
@shadowtsunami I could care less what they say because every review bases
that score on the gameplay, NOT the linear ass maps, horrid voice acting,
terrible characters (in a character driven game) and terrible storyline. I
played the game for 3 hours and wanted to kill myself. It's obvious the
target audience ranged from 13-16 year olds who LOVE Kingdom Hearts. It's
why XIII and XIV are being hallmarked as the worse in the series and Square
is going bankrupt from it. Read more.
@shadowtsunami (4) Directed by stupid cunt Tetsuya Nomura who will further
prove that anything he touches he fucking ruins. You have an emo main
character fighting just like Kingdom Hearts...in what looks like Tokyo,
fighting Shinra soldiers. It's so blatantly Japanese theme that it's
sickening. I could care less whether these games are produced in Japan, the
older games were made to appeal to everyone. FF hasn't been FF since
Hironobu Sakaguchi left Square, bottom line.
@KefkasInsanity (1) Well, everyone is different. Glad you could meet
someone who can have an opinion on a character and have reasoning to back
up why he feels that way about it. And yes, I connected with Cloud in 1997
when I was like what...13-14? Yup, that's how generally "bad" it was for
someone at my age trying to fit into school and all that lovely crap so on
that note, I was troubled at the time. And you couldn't get me to harp
about Advent Children if you tried.
@KefkasInsanity (2) It was one of the worse movies I have EVER seen. The
story was complete crap, not explaining really where these 3 remnants of
Sephiroth came from with their black leather emo outfits and
cellphones...how they got the Shinra Corp. by the balls in less than a
week...I mean the list goes on. Why do people love this movie so much?
Because it has neat fighting in it. THAT'S IT. I'd watch Spirits Within
over it any day because at least that had a story.
@shadowtsunami (2) I've nothing positive to say on XIII Versus other than
it will make or break Square-Enix and honestly I hope it fucking send it
pillaging in a heap of flames. They deserve nothing less for sticking
solely to stupid ass Kingdom Hearts games and ruining Final Fantasy. Yeah,
fuck what the fans want...no more Chrono Games...or a Xenogears sequel...or
a damn Vagrant Story sequel (though FF XII technically counts...SERIOUSLY).
Square-Enix is broken.
@banglefaar that is mostly what matters if the game play sucked then the
game sucks even if the maps weren't linear. Tell me what games aren't
linear? XIII again wasn't the worst in the series now 14 all right i agree
with you there that game was atrocious. That is the worst game in the
series. Voice acting is a preference, lightning, Snow, and Saz had very
good va. In Japanese they don't all sound different. just going to wait for
13-2 and versus 13.
@banglefaar Oh jeez where do I start...I managed to keep away from FF7 long
after the hype's climax. I only played it about 3 years ago, so I didn't
get caught up in all the "OMG best game on PS1 EVAR!" crap [even though it
was still arond somewhat]. I can't say I enjoyed it all that much,
collecting and mastering Materia was about the best part of the whole game.
Anyway, Cloud followed a typical anime protagonist style all the way
through.
@banglefaar And before you start harping on about "Oh, Advent Children and
all that destroyed his character," bear in mind that Sephiroth and JENOVA
were inside the Lifestream at the end. All the events afterwards could
easily tie in, and theoretically now they are essentially one, they would
come back so long as the Lifestream exists. By defeating them both in the
Northern Crater, he essentially helped them both become somewhat immortal.
@banglefaar I know you're a bigger fan of FF9 btw, you said it enough in
your videos. Im just annoyed that you said Cloud acted normal when he
should have been on Prozac since 1997. As for defending, FF13, I can't say
I am, since I haven't played it yet. I won't be doing so for a while since
my PS3 isn't in the best condition atm. Also, I'm not sure if you've seen
my username, but I dont think you need to dictate the events of FF6 to me.
@banglefaar Ahem, saying Cloud "doesn't act like an anime character" and
"acts like an actual human being," when he's a typical anime Wesley of the
same calibre as Sasuke? That's not irrational to you? And saying that it
was only recently that FF has been anime-styled when anime character traits
go as far back as FF5? You may want to look back on some of these games. I
think you might be surprised at what you'll find.
@banglefaar ...Seriously? You could connect with Cloud? Wow...you must be
troubled then if you could feel a connection with someone who's as
three-dimentional as a line segment. Ultimatey, Cloud's own troubled mind
was the result of his inability to think for himself. He wanted to be just
like other people to the point where personality issues were inevitable. At
least Squall defeated the main villain in his game.
@KefkasInsanity (3) So yeah, there are my 2 cents on the whole thing.
Screwed up young life, hated Advent Children, think Squall is homosexual
for Seifer or in some way a complete imbecile for someone "foreseen" to
lead a group of merc's... (don't get me started on 8's plotholes). IX was a
breath of fresh air, with the best protagonist ever, best world and
exploration...I mean...wow I love that game.
@banglefaar The amount of times I wished I could kick Cloud out of the
party because he's such a Wesley...The part where control was lead by Tifa
wasn't enough for me. I just wanted to get rid of him before my brain
melted from his attitude. I don't see how anyone can miss any of this: he
became an archetype for Squall's arseholeish behavior, yet Squall got
better over time more than Cloud ever did.
@banglefaar Other characters in FF7 that are anime are as follows: Yuffie
[hyperactive cheery-girl with an obsession with something], Tifa [Battle
Vixens is all I need to say], Sephiroth [typical hero fallen from grace]. I
think you'll find my statement holds more weight than your own. If you
can't see these anime characteristics, then I don't really know what to say.
@jjboyo I think to each their own. Terra's afraid of her powers, isn't she?
She's also not as fond of fighting as the other 9 to 5 "Meatheads". It does
make sense she'd sound almost desperate in her attacks. From what I've
seen, Lightning is more hardened, and also more professional, it'd make
sense she'd call out her attacks. She takes her role very seriously.
