I was very interested to see your video of Lluesty and its current state. I visited it about 25 years ago in following my mother's roots. My grandfather Edward Hughes and my grandmother Elizabeth (nee Pimblett) were Master and Matron of Lluesty Workhouse from from 1915 to 1925 when he retired on grounds of ill-health. I never knew my grandfather and I was only 2 when my grandmother died in 1945. Edward Hughes was first appointed as porter at Lluesty on 22nd July 1898. Elizabeth Pimblett was appointed as a nurse at Lluesty in 1903. They were married in 1905 and moved to take over as Master & Matron of Llanrwst workhouse. They then moved to take over as Master and Matron of St Asaph workhouse where my mother was born in 1911. In 1915, they were appointed as Master and Matron of Lluesty. My mother spent her formative years living there and her earliest memory was of old men breaking up stones to put though a grid to earn a night's bed. I have been researching the archives and thought you might be interested to add this to your history of Lluesty. It does seem tragic that such an amazing building that reeks of local history should be allowed to deteriorate without any recognition of its important role in the history of Holywell.

+ThePostnine I've used the maximum text in my description so I can't add your contribution into that, however I'm finding those interested are reading through all the comments.

+Janet Griffiths Thanks for posting Janet your family history at The Holywell Union Workhouse (Lluesty) and the Workhouses of North Wales. The old men breaking up stones would be rewarde with hot soup or gruel I guess and a dryplace to put their bedroll at Vagrants Rest. Your post add historic facts to the Lluesty video article
