Iowa Nice

I love Eastern Iowa. It's very liberal and progressive. No big cities, but
plenty of medium sized ones, which are much more "livable" than huge cities
like Chicago. And the landscape is very pretty, with nice
hilly forested land.
I try to avoid Western and Southern Iowa though, which is filled with flat,
boring farms and rednecks.
I've lived in Oregon, Pennsylvania, Hawaii, Utah, Minnesota, and Iowa. All
states have good parts and shitty parts. Most people view Iowa as flat
boring farmland, but that's only in the Southern and Western parts.
+HawkeyeNation19 You're right, I should not have generalized. I've only driven through Western Iowa . I just know that what I've seen in Western Iowa is what most people picture the entire state of Iowa as...flat corn farms as far as the eye can see. And as far as Southern Iowa, I've only heard from people that it is very conservative and redneck. And I don't think redneck is a derogatory term anymore. Most people I've met in small towns near where I live refer to themselves as rednecks. But yeah I'll admit that I have limited knowledge of those parts of the state, so I shouldn't have made those comments. Making comments like that make me no better than people who have never visited Iowa bashing on the state.
+kdog909 I kind of feel like you're generalizing the rest of Iowa based on politics and that you've potentially never even been to western Iowa. Way to be divisive and so "progressive". You aren't helping the societal status of this state nor the state of this country for that matter by saying such things. And I'm telling you this as a born and raised libertarian farm boy in western Iowa.P.S., yes the landscape is quite nice, but keep in mind that there are farms in eastern Iowa as well. Pretty much everywhere around you in fact if you open your eyes and... well I don't know, just look. (University of Iowa graduate here by the way). We're making sure there is food in your precious super market. And you should look up the history of the term "redneck" IF you just so happen to be referring to farmers because I imagine you'd be sorely mistaken as to what it actually means.
The north end does need some help that's a fact but overall the town it's self is nice my favorite neighbor hood is behind the hospital and around lakeview drive
+H.D Gaming The North end of town has always been tough and rough. The city needs help, and the city council doesn't do the locals any favors. It's been sad to see the city decline for the past 40 years.
