We use perch colour Xraps spring fishing in Georgian Bay Ontario. You have to slow it down as low as you can reel with a pause here and there. I've had Pike and Pickerel hammer these Xraps fishing this way.

Im saltwater angler and the xrap is my fav lure, its very effective for GT ,gold spotted travelly, bonito and even groupers can smash the lure if you fishing rocky shallow waters.

@dfg297lpopdirk If you're a regular angler..i.e more than 2 times per week imo you would realise that lure fishing is a different game since live bait fishing has exactly live bait that react in a particular condition and thus game fish react accordingly. It is up to teh angler to decide which action and type of lure is best for your conditions to get strikes...Hence we have a variety of lures and whenever a great company like rapala brings out a lure you be sure to test it..if it works,..well

Rainbow Rapala,,, Best River fishing for brown trout,, Jointed Gold and black,,, biggest one they make,, Best Cutthoat trout lure ever, top water. I have used many Rapala in my days, they all seem to work real well. I still have not caught a Muskie on a Rapala but I can't afford the big lures,, The best Northern Pike lure I found was dis continued,,Long Cast In a baby shad,,,you need to make it again,, Trolling rapala is the best all around go too fishinng,, Fast troll for trout..Thanks Rapala

I would start with some Senko type worms and Gamakatsu hooks to match (sizes 3/0 to 5/0). Also some Zoom trick worms in the 6". Next drop shot hooks in the 1 size also Gamakatsu. Get some small rubber minnow type things to tag on the end of that rig. You also need bullet sinkers for your worm rigs so they could double as on the tag end for your drop shot rigs. Finally if you want to get into crank baits I would start with a lipless crank like the standard Rat-L-Trap. Finally X Rap.

if i have to believe every clip of every rapala lure everything can deliver fish. but if you have to choose between rapala lures this is my top3 where I always catch fish with like pike, perch, zander, asp >musky >bass (I live in europe) 1. - X-rap shad 2. - husky jerk 3. - orginal have one of those three and you will catch fish, also i recommend savage gear soft 4-play awesome lure.

To be fair, in 45 years of fishing, man and boy, the Shad Rap is the single most effective plug I've ever used. I never leave the dock without a few in my tackle box (where I fish, in Michigan, the "natural" and "perch" finishes are most productive). But I agree with "iluvbassin", too - the French have an expression that fits Al Lindner perfectly: "Trop de zele!"
https://gp3.googleusercontent.com/-yqqGqfo-Rlw/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/H2M3TZ9_lyk/s48-c-k-no/photo.jpg?sz=64
Lures want catch you fish .. your the only person who can do that .. people will learn that one day ... john over here has about 1000 dollars in crankbaits and spinner baits and cant catch a single fish ... bobby on the otherhand has one pack of worms hes been using for about 3 years and is pullin fish out every cast ....
https://gp5.googleusercontent.com/-oURSmGoFXiA/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/zh1q0l-3JwU/s48-c-k-no/photo.jpg?sz=64
Best thing you can do is find out what the baitfish look like. Try and catch some bluegill...and see their size. Also, look at the vegetation and match your lure to the color of the weeds. In small ponds I love using small baits...but I've been to ponds where using a bigger bait is the key to catching monsters.
https://gp6.googleusercontent.com/-Z6NYq7XQPEs/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/RbVLxl7LlNA/s48-c-k-no/photo.jpg?sz=64
Do you not all realise that lures are not made to attract fish but to attract fisherman ? no matter what you use you think IF i only had that ! if only i had more, last time i was fishing i should have tried that. i will buy this for the next time.its an never ending cycle.
https://i1.ytimg.com/i/1YiZ8vypS_ma5cu9RlZu0Q/1.jpg?sz=64
used to never like rapala crank baits. my buddy talked me into trying them one more time and i went with the new X-Rap series shads. caught a couple largemouth bass and a 4 pound pike the first time on the lake with that X-Rap. i promptly went and bought more
https://gp5.googleusercontent.com/-BHE_t9PvxaQ/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/1IXd6sdWv5E/s48-c-k-no/photo.jpg?sz=64
this lure is great i was fishing with regular live worms and wasnt catching anything i thought i might as well try it and caught about 4 smallmouth and 3 largemouth in like 10 mins i highly reccomend it
https://gp6.googleusercontent.com/-BqRk8uEegeg/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/Tqg-HCKPkG4/s48-c-k-no/photo.jpg?sz=64
@bassallhour @ that price,I also cried when snagged something in the lake and lost it. Great lures,I prefer the clown x rap. I have caught some monster Hybrids and Stripers. Catfish like them too!
https://gp3.googleusercontent.com/-Zk_qkoHpDY0/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/WZkwJwywg70/s48-c-k-no/photo.jpg?sz=64
If I only had $15-30 to spend, what lures or soft baits would you guys suggest for purchase? I'm going for mostly bass and panfish. Anything that can catch multiple species actually. Any help?
https://gp6.googleusercontent.com/-BqRk8uEegeg/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/Tqg-HCKPkG4/s48-c-k-no/photo.jpg?sz=64
@Pararescue001 I agree. I have had the best results with the clown. I haven't caught walleye with it yet but plenty of big hybrids and stripers, even some nice catfish if you can believe that.
https://i1.ytimg.com/i/lOtXfNXfLEQJpT1-5p7d7g/1.jpg?sz=64
Word of advice, try walmart. I brought 5 rapala crainkbaits(1=xrshss-6, 2=xrs-8, 2=xrd-8 for 25 dollars before tax. Or your local spoting good store clearnce are great places to get lures.
https://gp4.googleusercontent.com/-E8BnRjHNwAY/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/wGoiERPlrCQ/s48-c-k-no/photo.jpg?sz=64
@MelosAntropon I guess my best pike "other than spearing" was 35 inches while trolling for muskyWith a "Grandma" Musky lure out by Lowell Mi. I got a few Shad Raps in my arsenal tho!
https://gp5.googleusercontent.com/-nzNTMEanYd4/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/Gl8zMfoTySo/s48-c-k-no/photo.jpg?sz=64
no the way i fish is when theres a new moon thats when the bass are on the top of there feeding. and on a full moon there feeding very well as well and bomber has amazing crankbaits
https://gp5.googleusercontent.com/-E15tDRqhpr8/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/EA31VBnpNNY/s48-c-k-no/photo.jpg?sz=64
@michaelisawesomeable yeah but i think its worth it i mean compare the quality and fish catch capability of rapalas to any crankbait company .......no comparison
https://gp5.googleusercontent.com/-nzNTMEanYd4/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/Gl8zMfoTySo/s48-c-k-no/photo.jpg?sz=64
i really love bomber crankbaits and ive always caught at the least 14 fish every time i go fishing with a fat free guppy...or shad.but i might try some of these
https://gp5.googleusercontent.com/-J3fqjJ5Hu70/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/IEPc94RYHbI/s48-c-k-no/photo.jpg?sz=64
@antifriendly. I am an avid rapala user. And i love the husky jerk out of all of them. The x-rap is a good one but husky jerk....by far the most versitile
https://i1.ytimg.com/i/bZbJyjlrykka39k-6fFxww/1.jpg?sz=64
cover every inch of water till somting bites. work them fast. if that doest work just jerk the rod a little bit to give it some wounded fish action.
https://gp6.googleusercontent.com/-uj3eqTKGfY4/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/0G_NTe_7g78/s48-c-k-no/photo.jpg?sz=64
Rapal is a high quality lure, but a bit pricey. But, the price is worth the outcome. These lures rock!!!! One question though: Do these catch trout?
https://i1.ytimg.com/i/BiWBPgp84ox12HnT9YFobA/1.jpg?sz=64
Rapalas husky jerk and origanal floter are the bomb for bass i dont now why evrey one thinks they neend fat baits for bass stick baits are the bomb
https://i1.ytimg.com/i/Rp2y14YWLiRwB5oNFRVARQ/1.jpg?sz=64
i love rapala but sometimes they get too exspensive so i just go with $1 cranks that works just as good... but u can never beat rapala
https://gp3.googleusercontent.com/-y2IahYAowI4/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/fLQDtVSdTlo/s48-c-k-no/photo.jpg?sz=64
i never try this lure but it's going to catch big fish . i love the cast of the lure i might buy it at the store today.
https://gp5.googleusercontent.com/-SYTikL9tX6w/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/i-ql9ELl-Qo/s48-c-k-no/photo.jpg?sz=64

https://i1.ytimg.com/i/N0TEyOxQktuTO2UONo0ZDA/1.jpg?sz=64
