I always get wrongly color matched at MAC. I've been to different counters
and I've gotten: NW20, NW25, NC40(!), NW40(!) and NC35! Lol. What I do is
take my foundation bottle with me in a small clear bag so that I can take
it outand match it to a new one. Also, I change the powders that I set it
with, that way I don't feel so bad that I have so many foundations that
don't match my skin. Lol.
try mixing foundations! i've seen other beauty gurus do it since they always have trouble finding one foundation color that matches their skin

My veins sometimes look green & blue, my skin tone is a lighter tone in the
winter and spring but around the summer and fall my skin tone gets like 4-5
shades darker. My powder foundation I use is Nude beige and it matches very
nicely. I've never tried liquid foundation and I wasn't sure if liquid
foundation shades show up lighter or darker than the powdered version. If
you have any answers to this that would help a lot. Thank you xoxo
+Pumchkin101's The liquid foundation should be the same shade, especially if you are buying it from the same brand. You are most likely a neutral undertone if your vein color seems like its blue and green.
I have very uneven skin tones and the color of my chest is different from
my face color and I can't see the color of my veins properly I am very new
and interested to makeup what should I do? Please help me.
+Demi Banjoko I would recommend matching it to your chest. And as far as color, go with a neutral shade a purchase a few that are close, and return the ones that don't work :)
I always have trouble when picking out the perfect foundation shade. I
suffer from Rosacea in which I have a lot of redness around my cheeks,
nose, chin and forehead. My Face is way lighter than my neck, Its like a
pinkish pale tone. When I go get color match at the department store, they
always match me with a color that looks way dark on me or orangey.
+Jacqueline Perez I would recommend checking out my video I did with my mom :) She has similar skin to what you have described I think. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r_czGq-k_pg
I have a yellow undertone too but I'm quite light and I went to get matched
and it's took an while to find on they either looked ashy , pink, too brown
and I thought I found the perfect one and I was so happy and I get home and
try to put it on myself and it's orange and makes me look darker like it's
perfect in one light and not in the other so now I have to mix huff I
didn't realise my skin was so awkward do u know any yellow undertone
foundations it would really help
try the mac nc15 or nc20 color, they are yellow toned, if u want more drugstore I would recommend you the L'Oréal True Match foundation in W1 , W2 or W3 if u are pretty light and yellow toned too :)
Match Your Foundation Shade Like a PRO! (EASY For Women of Color)
When I recorded this video it was first time trying out the Revlon Colorstay Foundation. At the time I was using a totally different computer and as I put together ...
the area around my mouth is darker than the rest of my face....so
foundation for face always looks ashy on that area !! any advice on how to
remove that dark area or how to cover it up?
Since My Forehead Is Darker Than The Rest Of My Face, I Usually Use A Lighter Foundation On It Then Go In With My Regular Foundation. You Should Try it
+Jackie Aina Lmao! The nanny? The cat? Oh I get it, she (lol) thought you were one of those YouTube gurus who doesn't read her viewers' comments. By the way, Orange is the new black and it looks beautiful on you!
+Dominexanbarbie27 I recently got sunburned on my chest making it darker than my face. everyone is different like that. this isn't a rule you're suppose to follow blindly. a few people have necks that more accurately match the skin color of their face. my skin tone is pretty consistent everywhere on my face so I'm probably going to color match using my cheek or jawline. as long as you aren't using a spot that is a drastically different color than your face (like your wrists) you should be able find a shade that fits.

is it true you're suppose to go a shade darker than your skin with
foundation? also are concealer and foundation the same thing? can you do
one without the other?
No that's not true, and no foundation is used to even out your skin tone ( but you can use full coverage) and concealer is used to highlight or cover imperfections

How to Choose the Right Foundation Color ♡ Easy Step by Step
In this video I tell you girlies who struggle with choosing foundation shades easy step by step instructions! I also share some tips and show what my shades are ...
I sincerly think you're wrong about undertones. I work as a make-up artist
in an important store in Italy, and I've seen A LOT of different skin tones
and people and "races" during my shifts. People may have a little bit more
of redness into their faces 8or neck) than others, but as every
professional mua does, you should have a look to the entire body, not
stopping your eyes onto someone's face. All people have beige-yellow in the
skin (think people without any melanin, dark or pale skinned). Every
cool-toned foundation will emphasize the redness and show up like a tomato.
Pink-based foundation are not good for anyone. Yellow-neutral-beige
foundations are good for everyone.
I've bought 4 different color concealers. They are all always to light for
me. My face is different colors, under my eyes it's very white and the rest
of my face is pretty tan.. Same with foundation.. I've tried so hard but my
arms/hands are much darker than my chest and face..
Im the opposite. I use colorstay but want to try true match. As for you, I believe 220 would be around your shade. Give it a try. Im 240 but I find the foundation too pink compared to my chest.
+Amy Macedo I totally understood your last point about not matching the
foundation to your face. But to be honest, all I have heard about choosing
the correct foundation is finding your foundation match to your face, and
decide from there if you want to go darker or lighter. What is your opinion
on that? I really gained some confidence in you so I really would like to
hear what you have to say about that :)
what if my chest area and my hands have different shades ? :(
my hands are more darker than my chest area. which shade should i match ?
chest area or my hands ?
Do your research , google it. You can look at the colour of your veins or by the colours you wear in clothing, I am warm toned so most drug store products look too pink for my yellow skin

How on earth can a supposedly "professional" make up artist select the
correct shade of Foundation - without
completely removing the shade previously applied to the model's chin
area?!
She began by using a shade that was far too dark; which she then dabbed
with a cotton wool ball to get rid of the surplus - ; before straight away
applying a more suitable shade that was paler. You could still see the
darker area underneath !
For goodness sake - use a Wet Wipe not a dry cotton wool ball ! I'd
never go by what this woman recommends that's for sure.
Poor Maybelline - having her to Present and Sell their products .
you forgot to remove the first make up you applied to get a true color of
makeup. You should never have to put the makeup on the neck if you choose
the color properly.
I watch these videos to get tips on how to know if the colour is right in
the STORE ...... ill look like a sunburned chick when I try on a million
colours -.-

And then there's the cases that makes absolutely no sense - like me! Im
Northern Scandinavian, grey eyes, white eyebrows + lashes, no pigment in
hair, no ability to tan, no real pigment in skin either, can use Mac face
and body foundation in "white" AND Im warm toned. Well, that depends - I
need NC foundations, nothing pink or red, or I look rosacea-like right away
, my veins are green, but i look best in silver jewelry and jewel toned
clothing. But I also look best in warm toned blush but only cool toned
bronzers. And warm toned lipstick as cool toned ones will make my face look
greenish and olive-like. But only cool toned eyeshadow as any warm tones
will make me look like I have pink eye.
+BeautywithEmilyFox Oh believe me - even the Mac face and body is not fool proof. I can, on a specially nonsense day have it look slightly pink-white on my face :-D And anything but silver jewelry looks brassy and coppery on me. Although gold eyeshadow is perfect on my eyes as long as its real gold-like and not yellowy - makes no sense aaaaaatt all haha :-D
+wirina holstein Haha there's always exceptions! You definitely sound warm toned but being fair, warm eyeshadows can sometimes be too much! As for the jewelry trick although it can help in some cases there's exceptions and there's also personal preferences. I need to get the Mac White foundation! I have a feeling it will match me perfectly during the winter haha :)
they said if the foundation turns ashy on the face that means you're
acidic. I'm not really sure about that though, happens to me a lot so its
really hard for me to pick the right foundation shade, I'm currently using
MAC NC25, sometimes its okay but sometimes it turns ashy.. ;-;
Well yeah maybe it is too light, I guess, idk, but that's what the beauty consultant told me, that I may be acidic lol. :p I'm still trying to figure out the right shade for me
+Naudia Villalba it might be too dark, or the wrong undertone. I know when I first got some concealers they were orange and it was because they were the wrong undertones. Otherwise, it just might be that they've oxidized. All three of those could be the case.
Well tbh that's y I don't really bother to try mac foundations. Not a fan of their formulas tbh; I have sensitive skin and of the 3 I tried in the past, they all broke me out
