Daylight Saving Time and Sleep – All You Need to Know
Are you ready for Daylight Saving Time? It starts Sunday, March 8th this year. Losing one more hour of sleep can be taxing; many see this hour as something ...
Why We Have Daylight Saving Time
Daylight savings is back! But why do we do it exactly? We've all heard different explanations, so Anthony hit the books in search of a definitive reason why we ...
Are people fucking dumb or what? When it's summer in the mid-latitudes
(whore most of the world's population lives) the days get a lot longer than
in winter. Depending on where you live in your time zone, if you didn't
observe DST, the sun could be coming up before 4am and setting before 7pm.
Changing the clocks means that the vast majority of us get to enjoy and
extra hour of daylight each evening for 8 months of the year because 98% of
us don't get up before 5am. Ever.
+Wchavez17 sorry but sleeping is one of the most studied and published health issues out there and the data says you're completely wrong. The median wakeup time for adults is 6:30am (it skews even later when you add teenagers into it) and the average person spends just over an hour on their morning routine. 94% of adults are still asleep at 4am. 85% sleep until at least 5am. Traffic counts on major highways are so low before 5am that they don't usually get a mention in the peak period counts. When they do the 4am-5am hour is usually in the 6% or less range of total traffic on a given road for the morning commute. If 85% of people don't leave their house before 6am and if 92% of adults are awake until at least 9pm then what's the benefit of a 4:30am sunrise and a 7:30pm sunset?
Take a look at the traffic on the freeways at 4am and I bet you'll change that belief. I would say maybe 70% off people. Early shifts are becoming popular. 9-5 hours suck. You spend the entire time you have to enjoy the sun stuck at work
I don't think we need daylight savings in California.
Daylight Saving Time – explained easily
Twice a year, at night, the clocks are reset by one hour, at least in most countries. But how was that again, one hour forward? Or backward?... Just watch this ...
"Most of Australia has DST" except TWO THIRDS of the bleeding place! Yes
I'm aware that most of the population is in the remaining three regions (or
are they states?).
It is up to you. I don't get out a lot anyway. I didn't go by when I was kid in the fifties didn't know such a thing exsisted. We didn't think how late it was or early we just went to bed and got up. hum. No matter the season.
It encourages people to go outside and exercise, and thus reducing obesity, when would you rather go outside, when it is pitch black or when it is warm and sunny?
How To Sound Smart About Daylight Savings Time
Daylight savings time is on Sunday. Why do we spring forward and fall back? Here's how to sound smart about daylight savings time. Don't forget guys, if you ...
+geniuswondergirlO I'm tired of you guys bitching. You really think John and even Hannah are so self absorb about daylight saving time? It's a U.S based channel. Watch Kiwi tank.
Also they conveniently missed out the fact that it was actually a kiwi entomologist who first proposed daylight savings time so he could study insects. Why you gotta be so self involved, Americans. Jesus Christ. America does not equal the entire universe.
I really like these kinds of videos. I like how I get answers to a lot of
little questions that just help fill in the little knowledge gaps in the
world, like it's nice to know, but I've not cared about it enough before to
do the research. It's really interesting and I appreciate it. Keep up the
good work, guys!
Ps. Hannah, you have really nice eyes.
Maybe you should mention that it is not on the same date in all
countries.........
But I guess you only want to sound smart instead of having actual
knowledge.
