+MrAlcazar do you think its ok to discriminate against gay people because theoretically its possible for them to hide that they are gay and pretend to be straight?I mean theortically its also possible for black people to wear masks and pretend to be white.My point is these minority groups should not have to change themselves and live unhappy lives to appease the majority group.

+dffykvn Lol, sometimes I loose my patience too. In this case I really think that we doesn't understand our point. He is too focus on sexuality is different from race, and he doesn't understand that we are not making that point.It happens to everyone....He should wait a few day... and read the posts again.

+dffykvnYes! It's choice! That's the whole point. You can choose to pursue those you are attracted to or not. Choosing is an action. Your race is predetermined by your DNA, and you can't change it, not matter how you try.

+dffykvn Sometimes people get stuck in a certain perceptive and it is hard to get out of it.  There are really  good studies about it, and that happens even to very smart people.He still thinks that we are equating being gay with being black.Maybe in a few days something will click. (that is usually how it works for me when I'm stuck in something)

+MrAlcazar​​ you are not understanding. maybe I'm not explaining myself good enough. The analogous to being gay in the interracial mariege thing is not being black. The analogous of being gay in that context is a black/white person that mostly feels sexual attraction for persons of another race. You can not see if a person prefers black of white person just by looking at them.

+Bruno CoutinhoWe keep going in circles. Yes there are similarities between the two,  but the main point is one is readily and easily identifiable, the other is not. You don't need diagrams to see that. You can't tell someone's sexual preference by looking at them. Most times, you can tell someone's race just by looking at them, and most likely be correct, accurate, considering people of mixed origin. and people who simply look like another race, but aren't. But no matter what kind of person you are inside, you will always be judged on the outside. If a black person goes walking in an affluent white neighborhood, he is immediately suspect, and would be subject to scrutiny. A gay person can go jogging anywhere, and no one would have a clue. See the difference?

Obviously they are similar issues. Should both groups be able to act on atraction or not? Is that a marriage?It is subtle difference I know, but an important one. There were two types of discrimination on those day, relating to race. First just the of the race itself. Yes I agree with you, there is not an analogous to that problem in today world relating to sexuality. The second discrimination was against people of diference races having a relationship... and that is analogous to discrimination against gays.A black man cannot change his color to marry a white girl in the same way that a guy cannot change his sex to marry a person of the same sex. It is the exact same issue. (yes I know that ni both case they can  undergo a medical treatment to change sex/color of the skin, but lets not demand such things)The racial equivalent to being gay, in this context of races, is not being black.... it is being a night rider, dusk rider, and other terms like that. Do you understand the difference? I can do a diagram to help you. gay marriage->interracial marriagegender->racegay->sexual attraction for people of a different raceheterosexual ->sexual attraction for people of the same raceIf you do the transformation in this way, you do get the same type of problem.

+MrAlcazar I'm not sure how is that relevant in any way intothis topic. The point was "can we equate a sexual relations and marriage between two people of the same sex with the sexual relations and marriage of two people of diferente races"Yes... it is something (a behavior) that feels natural for them but some societies thing/though that it is/was wrong. You are moving the conversation to something irrelevant about how race is different from sexual orientation ...In this case, both situation are related with sexual attraction and relation between two adults.... not race itself. The only different is between the two situation is: gay case: most people are in one of the extremes i.e. they feel attracted by women or men (ok there is some debate about this)race case: most people feel attracted by all the "races", but they have some preferences.

Even still, it could be just an act. Let's have a gay white and a black walk into a Korean liquor store. Who do you think is gonna watched the most?

+Bruno Coutinho​​ I'm not arguing against gay marriage. I was clarifying what that guy's co-worker said. Sex and race are not the same thing! Dating is a behavior. You can choose to engage in it or not. Race is not an act or behavior. You can try to conceal it, but you can't, just like Rachel Dolezal. It will always be with you. Gays can hide, blacks can't.

Participating in an Interracial marriage is different from being black. According to your logic being black is a race issue, but dating white girls is behavior.Using an argument from the right concerning gay marriage:A ban on interracial marriage is no discrimination according to the law, everyone is allowed to marry a persons of the same race.

+EasySnake He wasn't saying it's right to discriminate against them. His point was, you can't hide your race. Sexual preference is a behavior that you act on. I can choose to be single and not have sex all my life or not It's not something that shows like skin color. There is no parallel to race and behavior. A gay white man has more rights than a straight black man. Gay men could drink from the same water fountain as straight whites, and ride at the front of the bus, while blacks were barred from doing so under Jim Crow. So would everyone stop confusing race with behavior.
