I'm about finished with the cosmetics under the hood. Finishing the brakes soon. My Gremlin came off of the west assembly line in Kenosha which is unusual for ...
Flat-ass gorgeous! I'm considering tricking out the 360 in my '70 Mark
Donohue JavSST. It's a 360-4spd. Or....should I build a 401 to swap into
it, and keep the numbers-matching 360 for later? This will be a street car
w/ very occasional strip duty. BTW....what would this Gremlin's ET
translate to in a quarter mile?? Thank you
Gawd I hate 1/8th mile. Your Gremmie looks and just sounds wonderful.
Congrats for all your hard work turning out successful. But please....get
that little beaut to a quarter-mile track soon and post your times.
It was a mercury, It's a slower car in bracket race it leaves first. I had
the better reaction time but broke out. ( went to fast) I lost in the final
round, first time to the track.
Saw a comment from cumminsturbofan101 on Gremlin with a 454 big block.
I wonder if that was San Jacinto Jr College in Deer Park Texas?
I was there in the mid 70's at their new automotive school and a couple of
crazy wacky guys there did just that. Dropped
a 454 big block 'aka rat motor' into a Gremlin. It was a rather intense
project I recall a lot of firewall modification as the bugger big block
didn't really want to fit.
I never got to see it on a track or found out what happened later.
If I recall correct they had been buds in the Vietnam 'conflict'. One of
em had a extra long little pinky finger nail that I think
was used for things other then testing for poor machine work in cylinder
sleeves.
my dads friend back in college had a 1976 Gremlin with a 454 big block in
it with 600hp, I would have a video of it but my dad has lost contact with
that friend unfortunately :( . I do remember that was able to pull off a
9.7 or 9.8 1/4 mile I forget but it was a fast son of a gun
Solid advice. I have mine slated for completion in October. The key I think
is to set hard deadlines and have a goal of going somewhere on your
completion date...
