Good luck. Fitting in is the hardest part. I find what works well is saying "I'm not vegan but I like to eat vegan food every now and then." and then eat vegan food all the time. I know I should be a loud and proud vegan, but sometimes I just don't want the hassle.
Okay I'm sorry but "in nature", chickens don't only lay 12 eggs a year. No.
My family has chickens. 10 chickens. And we treat them better than most
people treat other people. They live in a mini house which is insulated and
has a ton of lights to keep them warm. They have a much better life here
than they'd have "in nature". Also, there are no male chickens either so
they're not forced to do anything. We're not forcing them to lay eggs. They
do them naturally and we take them and eat them. I don't agree with farms
treating them badly at all, but my family does not and that's the only
source of eggs we eat. Their insides don't come out with the eggs because
it is a NATURAL process. They live for a very long time also, a lot longer
than they would "in nature". I'm not trying to hate, just educate!
+Sophia Schrodi When did they ask you to provide them with shelter, food or heat? Humans forcing domestication on animals. Again. How disgusting, what next, domesticating a bear?
+Sophia Schrodi Neither does eating a chickens periods. Do you enjoy forcing your lifestyle on innocent creatures and eating their products? You also seem to enjoy saying " I'm gonna be a vet" like anyone gives a damn.
+ShinyGrassPokemonTrainer1995X no, we provide them with shelter and heat and food. We feed them and they feed us. What's so hard to understand about that? Are you a troll?
+ShinyGrassPokemonTrainer1995X no, we provide them with shelter and heat and food. We feed them and they feed us. What's so hard to understand about that? Are you a troll?
+ShinyGrassPokemonTrainer1995X lol are you 10? Seriously, it's like you ENJOY completely ignoring science. Boo hoo, go rant about it some more. Btw, swearing doesn't make you sound like a big kid.
+ShinyGrassPokemonTrainer1995X you're a vegan, really? I wouldn't have guessed. There's a natural order of things and if that upsets you, I'm sorry, but that's not my problem. No one is forcing animals to trust us, they do it naturally. Do you think our ancestors grabbed some wild dogs and decided to force them to be their companions? No, honey. No. The dogs approached us. They chose to want to be with us. Not vice versa. I'm sorry you're so unintelligent and uninformed. Life must be rough for you ):
+Sophia Schrodi They don't want your shelter you dumb hoe. They need your shelter because humans like you rendered them useless with years of "domestication". Disgusting, none of this is natural. How can you gladly eat their periods you sick fucking bitch? Nasty as fuck
+Sophia Schrodi I can't believ you fucking just said that. What the fucking hell? I'm a vegan and I don't even believe in that bullshit. Animals shouldn't have to "trust" us. Animals have to live in their natural habits, we shouldn't force them to get closer to us. Disgusting.
+ShinyGrassPokemonTrainer1995X because they want shelter and I want food. I treat them well, they reward me. I reward them when they reward me. It's a process and no one is getting hurt. Some animals have evolved to be domesticated. There's no two ways about it. I've watched way too many documentaries about it in school (on my way to become a veterinarian) for you to try to prove me wrong.
+ShinyGrassPokemonTrainer1995X as animals learn to trust humans more, they grow to like humans are rely on them. Through evolution, the more gentle animals learn to coexist with humans so they can help EACH OTHER. Thinking that all species should just coexist without interacting with each other is dumb. We evolved and have life the way we do for a reason.
+Rachel Y and I don't support the egg industry. That's why I bought chickens. My chickens are 100% healthy and no, they don't feel pressured to lay eggs to fill their nests. That's a myth. No ones encouraging the chickens to do anything, it's a natural process. That's like saying people encourage me to have a period. Do some research on chickens please. You sound extremely uneducated on the topic.
+ShinyGrassPokemonTrainer1995X I literally responded with more sarcasm and you actually didn't realize that. Okay, honey. That's like saying dogs aren't and never were domesticated. They are. They're not wolves and my chickens aren't wild. Do you not know what evolution is?

+Sophia Schrodi In their natural state, hens only lay eggs until they have a full nest. At this point, they would naturally stop laying eggs and start nesting. The egg industry interrupts this natural process by constantly removing the eggs, therefore constantly encouraging the chickens to lay more eggs to fill their nest. The laying of every single egg involves great effort on the hen’s part. In intense farming situations, some chickens even die in the process as a result of the pressure on their laying organs.Every egg also involves a tremendous loss of calcium from the hen. This goes to producing the shell of the egg, protecting what would be their future babies. In the egg industry, most hens have been genetically nurtured for productivity purposes; the animals are brought to the very edge of their egg production capabilities, and therefore suffer from a tremendous loss in calcium which in many cases leads to disease and painful deaths. But what has this got to do with home grown eggs? One of the ways hens can restore the terrible calcium loss is by eating their own eggs. //www.theveganwoman.com/is-it-ethical-to-eat-eggs-from-home-grown-chickens/
+Sophia Schrodi My response to most of your paragraph: Sarcasm. I was mocking you with sarcasm and I succeeded. Also, chickens were never and will NEVER be domesticated. They were and are meant to live outside, will they survive? Probably not. But that's how it's fucking meant to be, nature intended for ALL creatures to be in the wilderness, weak and strong. You sheltering chickens is just pathetic. Humans are pathetic.
+ShinyGrassPokemonTrainer1995X oh honey, you're embarrassing yourself so much. If you own an animal, and you do research on it, you're going to know how to treat it. See, if you don't feed cats meat, that means you didn't do your research and you therefore don't know how to take care of them. Also, no, domestic animals are not meant to live outside. Throw your 20 cats outside and see what happens. And yes, my chickens are domestic animals. Don't try to say they're not because I doubt you own chickens. Maybe a few thousand years ago, chickens lived in the wild, but now they're domestic. As many other animals are. Sorry, but the world doesn't revolve around veganism. And it thankfully never will.
+Sophia Schrodi "Most chickens aren't meant to live outside" I'm sorry, just get out. ALL chickens are fucking meant to live outside, the way nature intended; its survival is a different thing. I can't believe it, you must be delusional.
+Sophia Schrodi I have 20 cats and they're all vegan, they're all gonna die soon.Just bevause you "own" (can't own what is not yours) hens doesn't mean you know how to treat them.
+kayleigh norwood oh, so you're an extremist. Then I'm sorry, but I will not be conversing with you. People like you are a waste of time to attempt to reason with.
+Sophia Schrodi Haha your hilarious! 'Most chickens aren't meant to live outside' what a dumb ass thing to say. Everything was meant to live 'outside', just as nature intended us. The only reason certain species no longer can is because us humans have evolved creatures into indoor animals for our benefit. The chickens would last more than 2 minutes, they would adapt.
+2014corradog60 and you also are jumping to conclusions. You're saying that ALL eating of eggs is bad because some people clip the chicken's beaks and wings. That doesn't mean everyone abuses chickens. Most chickens aren't meant to live outside in the wild. I know my chickens wouldn't last 2 minutes. They have really good lives here. Listen, I'm in school to become a veterinarian. Are you? I have chickens. Do you? Your feeble "sources" and arguments are nothing compared to my experience.
+Sophia Schrodi All eating of eggs is bad because they are not ours to eat and because they damage humans' health. Check out this link from a real doctor //nutritionfacts.org/video/eggs-vs-cigarettes-in-atherosclerosis/

+Sophia Schrodi You seem to jump to conclusions rather quickly. If you never heard of something does not mean it didn't happen. I am not arguing with you, I'm just trying to tell you that there are people out there that chop off the beaks of hens to stop them from eating the eggs. Because I have seen that first hand. And I have seen hens eating the eggs after they layed them. And I have seen their feathers cut short for them not to jump over the fence of the yard they are confined to. Just because I am vegan now and choose not to have pets or grow animals does not mean that in the past I didn't, or that my family doesn't. I understand that people love their hens and like to think them as family. What I do not understand is their capability of killing those hens when time comes to eat them. So I am not arguing with you, just presenting my thoughts. I wish you all the best and may you have a happy healthy life!
+2014corradog60 I've actually never heard of someone chopping off a chickens beak to stop them from eating it. And oh, sorry. Are you actually arguing with someone who owns 10 chickens about what's beneficial for chickens? Do you own chickens? No, you don't. So stop trying to tell me what's good for them. I already know, honey.

+2014corradog60 well then I guess you better never suck your boyfriend's dick, he should be consuming his sperm! It's not yours to take!! Actually, you better advocate AGAINST blowjobs! It's cruelty!!!!
+Sophia Schrodi I don't know about eating your period but i heard that swallowing sperm is good for your health. //www.news-medical.net/health/Swallowing-Semen.aspx
+Sophia Schrodi No, i do not have pets. Using animals for selfish reasons is not okay. If you have rescued pets i guess it makes it kind of OK-ish, but i think breeding animals for human entertainement is bad and should be stopped. I guess you are also ok with ZOOs.Why is eating a hens period good for a human but for the hen bad? If the egg contains minerals and vitamins and whatnot that the mainstream says is good for the health of humans, are those same minerals bad for the hen that layed the egg? Tell me why does the hen instinctually eat the eggs if they are not collected and why does the owner chop their beak off in order to stop them doing that?
+2014corradog60 no, it's not beneficial for their health actually. Good seed and other things like that are beneficial for their health. That's like saying you eating your period is good for your health.
+Sophia Schrodi I guess you would think it is better to be in a luxury cage than be free to roam in nature. But you are a human-animal conditioned to like cages. Non-human animals like freedom. For education purposes follow this link //freefromharm.org/eggs-what-are-you-really-eating/
+Eddy enoobie Why not feed the eggs back to the hens if you don't want to waste them? It is beneficial for their health. If you eat the eggs both the hens and you lose. Stop breeding them. Go vegan!
+Sophia Schrott Chickens replace eggs, which are taken from them by laying new ones. So in nature, where no one takes their eggs, they only lay 12 per year. Do they have like earth and grass in the mini house? :) But thumps up for you not supporting the big egg industry! (Y)
+Sophia Schrodi I agree with you 100%, as my family does the same. My mom treats her chickens as part of the family. She has one chicken that follows her around and talks with her all of the time, it is so cute. Yes we do eat the eggs, as it is a waste to throw them away for no reason at all.
