ok have you had any problems with both alternators charging the same battery. ive heard that your not supposed to wire them in parallel and could cause problems. i was wanting to do this to my blazer to help with charging the battery since im running dual electric fans. and one alt wont keep up with charging it. well it does keep up. but im only runnin one right now and would like both of them hooked up. with on fan my volts drop to 13.5 and if i hook up the other fan then yea.....

Looks great Colin. Would you consider making another bracket for same generation Astro? It'd be identical, I believe, as the one you have now. Or let me know what metal you used to make yours and I could probably figure out the rest. Looks like no welding was involved, was there? How much longer serpentine belt did you have to use? Do you also have the smog bracket? (same side engine, down at the bottom). Mine is empty also so I/you could put one there too, for 3 alternators.

I bolted it to one of the existing bolt holes for the alternator and put washers in the gap (alternator is skinnier than the compressor). Then I made a bracket that connected to the other hole in the alternator and connects to the serpentine bracket assembly. I looked for quite some time for something like this on the cheap, and when I couldn't find one- I finally gave in and built one.

Nope. One battery with 2 alternators with no problems. Wired the charging wires through appropriate sized fuses and then to the battery. The harness wire I just split off of and tapped in to the second alt. No issues brother!

hey man i have an astro but 2000 i plan on doin the same thing did u have to get a new braket or it bolted on? on my astro the compressor is on same bracket as the power steering compressor

Ha! :D I know right? Meh- I went back and forth on it, but after all the trouble the compressor and A/C system has given me in the past- I figured yank it and put in Alt number 2. haha
