Jessi Combs Sets Womens' 4-Wheel Land Speed Record
TV personality Jessi Combs sets a new women's land speed record, piloting the North American Eagle Supersonic Land Speed Challender vehicle to a 2-way ...
Well congratulation Jessi, but excuse me... why the hell is there even such
a thing as a Womens' 4-Wheel Land Speed Record???
It's only natural in physical sports, since woman and man's bodies are
simply different. But how is this harder for a woman than for a man?
+DutchManticore Not that's not what I said. I said "I agree it is time to consolidate these into one category" meaning of course men's and womens vehicular assisted speed records as that is what you were posting about.I never said anything about cycling / soccer / swimming or any other physical contest. Sorry if you took it that way.
+Mike FlippinEhm well no I would be against consolidation of the two genders in sports where physical properties come into play..You can't expect a female/male athlete to be equally strong in a cycling / soccer / swimming or whatever contest.I was just objecting to the fact that there's absolutely no down or upside to being a woman or man in a speedrecord since it's not a physical exercise. Her gender is just an excuse to get a title in this case it seems.
+DutchManticore The two categories exist because for many decades there was a segregation between women and men in all sports contests. I agree it is time to consolidate these into one category. Great is great, no matter what gender.
They could have made that run by remote control, matter of fact thats
likely what they did! Jessi Skankinstein was a passenger. oh but she went
to Wyotech! so she is the greatest driver/builder/welder of all
times.......not
It's called being the driver. Most drivers did not build the cars they set
records in. David Donohue, and Jay Leno did not build the Porsche Carrera
GT they drove to set the speed record at Talladega Superspeedway. Does that
invalidate their achievement?
+malavai68 Pfft. Record. In some minor category. Andy Green didn't built Thrust SSC but Richard Noble did drive his own car. In so far as any modern car can be said to be built bu any one person.
TV Celeb?!?! Are you smoking pcp? Jesse Combs probably welded the tube
chassis on that thing! That girl can probably weld faster than you can
type! Go ahead and talk shit while you're sitting at your laptop eating
pork rinds, you faggot, but when you were playing videogames Jesse was
building 1100hp rock climbers you idiot! She graduated from Wyotech
(Wyoming Technical Institute). She took Automotive Technology/Street Rod &
Custom Fabrication there, as did I, but I didn't even come close to
completing the vast amounts of projects she did. Her teacher was Randy
Svalina (one of the best teachers in the country). He was also my teacher
and he is one of the most incredible human beings on the planet. And just
to clear up some shit, women have a separate class in almost every
motorsport to keep a level playing ground. However, they are aloud to
compete in the men's class, I'm sure you've watched Danika Patrick loose
every Thursday. The point is that, yes women are as capable as men, but
none have beat the records set by men...yet. Until they are truly on a
level playing ground there will be a women's class and a men's class. All
you idiots talking shit on land speed, just hop on a skateboard and ride it
down a hill and see if you can handle the speed wobbles at a certain speed,
then imagine going 560 mph in a pop can doing the same wobble dance. Can
you handle it? I don't think so.
Danica Patrick is Loose every Thursday? what the fuck does that mean? Jessi Skank combs could not carry Danica's helmet bag! but maybe she could make her a BarBQ pit!
Sounds like you are a bit star struck! Jessie Combs is a hack! she knows how to weld so they show her welding all the time! Discovery has been trying to shove her down our throat for 5 years now! I guess she is banging somebody over there! Mythbusters to Overhaulin to All Girl Garage! So she went to Wyotech Is that supposed to mean she is Gods gift to the auto world....she is a nasty little troll and she makes me vomit.
Land Speed Record on a Bike 120mph + (Attempt LOL)
to a point, but if the structural integrity of the carbon fiber is
compromised it becomes extremely weak, hence the common name a lot of
mountain bikers have for it, "cardboard fiber"
1938 Land Speed Trial Caracciola for Mercedes-Benz
Bernd Rosemeyer had bested Mercedes the year before and while he was the man of the hour, Mercedes wasn't ready to give up just yet. In January of 1938 ...
This film is actually from February 1939, not 1938. The car is a modified
W154 GP model, competing for the 3-litre class records, not the outright
LSR. The cards at the end are misleading, because those 8-litre records had
been set in January 1938 during the same sessions in which Rosemeyer was
killed.
Rudi's autobiography isn't necessarily 100% accurate - and that passage refers only to his feelings immediately after Bernd's death. There's a list of the major successful record runs in the 1930s on Leif Snellman's excellent Golden Era website: //www.kolumbus.fi/leif.snellman/reco.htm +King Rose Archives
Thanks for chiming in on this. Will have to pull the tape again and dig out my Silver Arrows books and files. I'd thought Caracciola had given up speed record runs after Rosemeyer was killed. He wrote this very passionate reaction to his victory that seems to rule out another run. "What was the sense in men chasing each other to death for the sake of a few seconds? To serve progress? To serve mankind? What a ridiculous phrase in the face of the great reality of death. But then—why? Why? And for the first time, at that moment, I felt that every life is lived according to its own laws. And that the law for a fighter is: to burn oneself up to the last fibre, no matter what happens to the ashes." You've given me a project for the holidays.
+Trev S It looked sleaker. And the Germans wanted to prove that they were the master race on the road, at the Olympics, in the air and finally in war.

Extreme Machines | Episode 03 Season 01| The Landspeed Record
Watching the video is good but until you are in the middle of nowhere and
actually see one of these cars you are clueless as to just how fast these
things really were. I saw Craig go swimming in my one and only trip to
Wendover. That he lived thru that crash defies rational thinking and I have
owned race cars all my life in major series, never would i dream of
attempting what those people achieved.
Excellent vid . I have personally seen and up next to the Green Monster and
the Spirit of America at Daytona . These things were big , not running ,
only static . Good history here .
