Medieval sword fighting does not just belong in movies. More and more people are taking it up as a serious sport. Around 13000 fighters are now estimated to ...
+Commander1991NORNot expert, just people who does these sports and did a bit of research on them too. Experts are those that goes:"NO! BACK IN THE YEAR OF THE RENAISSANCE PERIOD, EXACTLY 1400 (or whatever) PEOPLE OF THOSE PERIOD USED THIS SWORD For blahblahblah"Just saying that these are swords are medieval based, just used for duels and fencing and not for wars and battles.
When people say "sword", don't think there is only a single shape/size/weight/design. Sword went through quite a bit of evolution. The sword you're thinking of are ones made for war and battles, where its big, with a broad blade from hilt o the tip. It's true these longswords people are using in the video isn't exactly a "war" weapon, but it was fencing/fighting weapon between 2 people. Keep in mind, swords were used for war and battle at the start, but around the renaissance times, it was more common to see "duels" and "fencing" between small number of people. Also, it was around this time gun-powder became more common with flintlock rifles and guns, so armors, big swords and whatnot became rather pointless. So Longswords became a more tournament style weaponary of duels, hence why this unique shape and size.
They are the correct size and weight. If you're thinking of the thin blade, it's authentic there too. The design is based on old sparring swords, and they looked just like that. There are bigger blades, but Montante, Spadone and Zweihander where more defensive weapons rather than offensive. They where used for a last stand kind of deal against multiple opponents since they where hard to use in formations

United Cutlery Honshu Wakizashi Sword
This tactical Honshu Wakizashi sword from United Cutlery is one powerful cutting machine. The razor-sharp, high-carbon steel blade will slice through almost ...
+United Cutlery Yes,no problem sir.The way its constructed its likely not to be an issue. It's just not as advertised.BTW,I'm the one who tested your tac Kat for SBG.
+丁畅 Please send a picture of what you saw when you took the handle off to [email protected]. Sorry about the inconvenience, but Kim will take care of you!
John, can you please send the picture to this email: [email protected]. Kim is going to handle pulling some off the shelf to look at them. Thanks for letting us know about this!
+United Cutlery It is very true and has been fairly well known in the community for awhile now.I can't link pics here with my phone for some reason. Its easily found by googling pics of" welded Honshu wakizashi tang".Your mount house is using stock wakizashi blades to somewhat copy Hanweis design.
+The Censorious Critic If you want a short blade for indoor use, I'd recommend the Philipino Espada y Daga.Incredibly light, short blades. Designed to be very smooth, fast and flowing weapons. Good for both thrusting and stabbing. The Espada's blade length is about 18+ inches, while the dagger's blade is around 8 inches.Only real problem is its lack of armour-busting power. As Philipinos didn't wear too much clothes back in the dark ages.If you want a blunt indoor weapon, an indian war club or a one-handed kanabo (Areaebo) would be great. Low skill required, good armour-busting capabilities and fairly light.
It is nice thing to put on the wall but this is not real sword. If this is
being used like real sword it will brake. Real swords are made from high
carbon steal for all people that doesnt know. Still this is cheep but still
u cant find real sword under 300 $ min.
+Nathaniel Lionell I had cold steel saber of 300 $ and and didn't worth 50$. Came loose, bad finish and also too tick and heavy for its size, just garbage. I can imagine how good are blades that cost 3 times less.
+Nathaniel Lionell Machete first of all is not sword it is a tool. Second if you find 1 sword (high carbon steel long blade) under 100$ u got imaginary beer from me. U might be lucky 2 find unsharpened blade with some mistake in production. Check prices on cold steel blades those are much more expensive but still shit swords(unfortunately i had 1 :( ). I have one solid blade that is about 250$ but it cant compare 2 other 2 i got witch are about 500-600$
+Mihailo Niciforovic no, u can find a GREAT sword under $100. $300 is an unreasonable fucking amount of money to buy a sword. If you tryna to buy a katana, well $300 is a reasonable amount but if you trying to buy some machete or a sharp sword, there's alot of sharp sword in under $100
+Ant Swis i have a mod for skyrim that is this exact sword
