Thanks for posting this. Pretty brutal, I can understand if that was the family of the stabbing victim that did this. I've heard some discrepancies in the story however; some stating that the guy stabbed him repeatedly after an argument and a red card, and others that state he was acting in self defense after the player did not leave the field and began to attack the referee, who may or may not be significantly larger or smaller than one another. Ju - to be honest, the news of this stoning, dismemberment, & beheading of the soccer referee in Brazil startled & alarmed. I have visited South America in 2008 but didn't have the chance to visit Brazil. It's also sad what I've been seeing in the news regarding violent protests of citizens vs. police & government. But yes, I do believe that majority of Brazilians are good. And actions of a few shouldn't be used to punish rest of population. I hope the Olympics & World Cup go smoothly in Brazil.

I never justified what the crowd did... but just because they reacted badly, that doesn't let the ref off the hook for A) bringing a knife to a soccer game and B) STABBING A FUCKING PLAYER!! And since only an alpha douchebag makes hand signs at a camera and carries a knife *everywhere,* he probably started the fight, which led to the stabbing, which led to the rest. Now I'm not saying they should have killed him... but I understand.

Give me a break.This is terrible. I am brazilian and I am horrified, but I have also seen terrible things happen in London after soccer games. So, the europeans and american that say this is only in Brazil or South America, we do not have the3 killings in schools like you do there in THE USA.

there is no justification for what he did the referee, as it had to react by stabbing the player although he had been assaulted. But keep in mind he was only 20 years old. what did those jailbirds of fans is appalling. You see from the photos that are not normal people.
