I have lived most my life in PORTUGAL and never once heard or had mazagran... Yes, some places will add a lemon peel to an espresso... Apparently Mazagran in a French Algerian invention... Portuguese??? We learn new things everyday, I suppose!!!

+Klimt Kahlo My mum was used to work in a cofeeshop when she was young and I asked about mazagran and she told me that it is very popular and that she had to make them during the summer ( I am from Algarve - South) I tried this version and she approved it ... It was the first time I heard about it because I don't drink coffee but all my friends and family knew about it...

I'm Portuguese, born and raised in Portugal and in the hot summer months in my house mazagran was always present at the table! (^_~) I guess it depends the regions in Portugal...

Here's a thought (and easier way): Directly plunge the Aeropress coffee into a cup of ice and pour in the lemon juice! WAY faster than waiting the coffee to cool (cooling hot coffee will result in a oxidized/rancid cup of coffee). Japanese iced coffee is the way to go!

waiting 5/10 minutes doesn't alter the quality of your coffee... plus, doing it your way would result in melting the ice, so you'd drink wishy-washy coffee... American coffee... bleah
