How do you get into litigation if you don't recognize the power of a
government?
LOL
LOL, libertaarians can never live on their own in a randian utopia, for a
number of reasons.
First, they would destroy their water supply because they would have no
regulations to stop their neighbor from dumping toxic waste into it.
Next, they would have no labor to exploit. All of them would want to be the
boss and none of them would want to actually work for a living.
Then they would end up shooting each other because they would all be
packing heat and trying to con each other out of money, because thats all
they know how to do.
They have no talent, they have no craft, no skill and the only thing they
do to get rich is exploit labor, resources and government.
Finally, a rich person is only rich when there are poor people. A Porsche
is only special when parked next to a Volkswagen. Conservatives are only
happy when they have someone to look down their noses at, it makes them
feel special.
What I define Libertarian?A libertarian is someone who wants to take America back to the way it was run in the 1800s, regardless of how much the world has changed since then. Libertarians also have mean hard-ons for unregulated capitalism, believing that the "Invisible Hand" will erase poverty and create a utopia instead of what ACTUALLY happens when you let companies do whatever they want, which is: -Children working in factories and mines -Corporate monopolies -Workplaces where death is likely -Low, low wages -Shit in your food (Read Upton Sinclair's "The Jungle") -Even more extreme corporate corruption and political pawns than we have now. -Getting the living fuck stomped out of you by company-hired goons for trying to organize a union (Battle of the Overpass)Libertarians are nothing more than economic conservatives.
This is a really ignorant comment. Governments use coercion to force us all to use their courts to settle disputes. It was careless of them to not set up arbitration ahead of time but still.Libertarians are in favor of regulations, we simply want the regulations to be created by competent authorities (property owners) and voluntarily (through contracts) so that things like water and air can be strongly protected with enforcement that has teeth, unlike the government system.Libertarians are not conservatives.
Just a side thought here. I think an instructive comparison between GGC and
FSP is that with GGC you had to work with and buy your property & home from
the GGC organization and thus are somewhat under their power, while with
the FSP they have essentially no power over you. People are free to move to
NH, work for liberty, and do all the things that FSP folks are doing; yet
never actually join the project. And there have been people who have joined
the FSP and moved, yet don't actually do anything to promote freedom other
than living relatively free.
I'm only a little familiar with the Blue Ridge Liberty Project, but from
what I know they are more like the FSP than GGC in that respect. They are
just asking folks to move to the area, and maybe are helping people do
that, but you don't have to use their realtor or follow any orders.
Seasteading will be interesting if/when it gets going as the infrastructure
they are suggesting will be needed means it will probably be more like the
GGC model where you'd essentially be a serf on the seastead you choose.
Very few people will be able to afford their own seastead platform.
+Asa JayWe all screw up. Jeff can still do a lot to make this right. That's the important part now, I think.I didn't know about Ken's response or the new comments, thanks. :)
Thank you for the thoughtful response +George Donnelly I too was put off by the talk of suicide and alcohol. A few weeks back Jeff had said he had quit drinking so he obviously considers it a problem. Its a shame hes apparently started back. As someone with substance abuse issues in my past, I can definitely empathize. Perhaps alcohol(and drugs) is why his business ventures have suffered recently.I think we did get to see a bit of Jeffs humanity here which is interesting I guess, but as you said, not cogent to developing a "proper" business reputation i think. As a long time TDV subscriber it is difficult to see someone I hold with high esteem like Jeff see difficulties of this nature. I hate to be the guy that says "this is not good for the movement" ...BUT... well, it isnt... and with the Stefan Molyneux stuff also going on right now...... ugh....Hopefully the wrongs can be made right and contractors and investors can be made whole. Galt's Gulch was such an excellent idea. Perhaps it can still be realized. From the sounds of those involved it can be done but will take alot of hard work. As Jeffs says, if it does in fact come back and becomes all it was supposed to be, it will be a true testament to the perseverance of those involved...There still seems to be alot of contradicting versions of events though.... and it is difficult to know who exactly to belive. I think its safe to say that there is some truth in all accounts. I think Ken Johnsons response to Wendys Daily Bell piece was interesting... and it appears that there is some ongoing discussion occurring over there in the comments section NOW about this latest TDV article //www.thedailybell.com/editorials/35591/Wendy-McElroy-The-Fate-of-Galts-Gulch-Chile/ Looks like some people have some interesting things to say....PS. SUBBED!:)
+Asa JayJust read it now for the first time, thanks. I don't believe him that it can be saved but I hope it can be. Also, the rambling nature of the post and the mention of alcohol does further damage to his reputation IMHO. I hope he does take responsibility and get something done about it but if it requires people sinking more money into it, then it sounds like more scam.Notice how he compares the GGC disaster to war as a way of downplaying the seriousness of GGC. This is evasion. It was a coinflip whether he revealed the truth of it?? A businessman's integrity must not be determined by a coin flip. That's a disgusting evasion right there and a cutting self-indictment.He talks about killing himself as a plea for pity. That's just sick.He says most of the criticism is coming from people who compete with him or inexplicably hate him. He is attempting to divert attention from his own screwups to attack other people's credibility.I hope Jeff drops the alcohol, the self-pity and the evasions, and does what he knows he has to, which is do his best to fix this. I wish him the best with it.
+George Donnelly Have you seen Berwicks latest post? //dollarvigilante.com/blog/2014/8/30/penance-the-weekend-vigilante-august-30-2014.html# Im getting ready to read it... At first glance looks like hes attempting to take more responsibility though... I wish hed do a video...
The small things build up like this over time and destroy the one piece of
solid unity... hell I won't mince words, these ass holes are what drive
more people from the freedom movement than anyone. The wake of damage from
these"sins" if you will, is irreparable and permanent lest integrity is a
watchword... and I'm sad that it seems like more of the same weak bullshit
as the statist mentality types... it just drives people away in MANY
directions, but sure as shit not towards one iota of freedom.
+Dr. Elvis H. ChristLibertarianism for me is not "leave-me-alone-ism" and sometimes you have to get into people's faces to defend yourself and your rights, like it or not.
