In the fifty years the house has been here, flood water has never gotten in. Except when the levees broke, allowing 20 feet of water in St. Bernard Parish.

I was at work with the truck. The only thing that makes it worse is trucks pushing a wake. A girl in a Scion XB drowned her car last year when the street was like this.

Thats crazy ! Does this happen alot there because you are in a low lying
area ? Or the sewer system is too small ?

No, it's quite normal in a tropical climate when you're getting over 3 inches of rain in a short amount of time. Less rain than this causes flash floods, mudslides, etc. in other places. It doesn't take long for the street to drain once the rain slacks up.
