I use Mechanix Wear M-pact gloves... and have a pair of warmer gloves that fit over them for extra cold (well, cold for Nor Cal) winter days. I also use them while doing camping stuff where I want my hands protected... they seem to put up with my abuse pretty damn well other than open flame on the cloth parts. hahha. $20-$30 bucks depending on the source. My wife uses the same gloves, and they have protected us both on a few off road spills.. once for me sliding on pavement even.

Check out Pilot Motosport. It's where I got my suit made. They make a sweet ass short glove. It is mesh and leather. Really awesome quality for $50!!!!!!!
