Should Preachers Use Words like Whore & Other Graphic Terms? Jesse Morrell
Can preachers ever use the word "whore" while preaching? Can preachers rebuke sexual sins in the open air? Can they use no uncertain terms? There has ...
A lot of OA preachers quote 2 Tim. 4:2 to justify rebuking unregenerate
sinners. Seems to me if you read that verse in context with verses 3 an 4,
its about rebuking and reproving wayward Christians. I've preached with
others who say things to unregenerate sinners like, "Gods gonna smash your
face" or "Pull up your pants, nobody wants to see your a**". I have a
problem with that. Seems like preachers in the NT like Paul were more
diplomatic with unregenerate sinners as in Acts 17:18-34. I personally
don't have a problem rebuking a person who claims to be a Christian but is
acting like the devil. I rebuked a whorish looking girl at a Lady Gaga
concert who was cussing us out with the F bomb. I did so because she told
me that she was a Christian. After rebuking her, a Christian couple
walking by rebuked me for rebuking her. Go figure.
+camp parson's sunday school Yes compromising and hypocritical professing Christians should be rebuked. Jesus even rebuked entire cities because they did not repent. Jesus also said that the world hated him because he testified of it that their works were evil.
Interestijg video and i cannsee wherenyou arencoming from. Hut correft me
if i am wrong, but majority ofnthe OT verses you spoke off, regarding the
skirts, seem to be very metaphorical and should not be interpreted in any
other way. You really think the LORD lifted upma females skirt to "show"
her to the nations? Ive learned a lot from your preaching but when you
preafh aboutma "dildo" it literally makes me sick. And to claim God wants
you to speak ofmthose things doesnt make sense sith eph. 5 regarding coarse
jesting or unwholesome talk. You seem tomtry so hard to shock people into
listening or get veiw like "preacher smokes weed", or somethingmalong those
lines. I personally do not see it as a grey area. Majority of the stiff
rebukemfrom Christ went to religious leaders..majority not all. There is a
major difference between telling someone they are acting like a whore and
calling them an out right whore.
+Family Mining and Other Tings Yes those verses are metaphoric, not literal, but they are graphic nonetheless. God has used sexually explicit language, though figurative, to express literal truths. He used sexually explicit language to rebuke and correct, which is how I use it to. When it all about sexual sins, it is not to joke about it or take pleasure in it but to expose it and rebuke it. The Bible says we are to reprove the things sinners do in secret and make it manifest.
Is it ever acceptable for a preacher to talk about the size of a person's
genitals, ejaculations, and fondling breasts? If they do so do they have
"dirty old man syndrome?" Well, Ezekiel did in Ezekiel 23:20-21. Or is it
ever acceptable for a preacher to describe a woman having her skirt lifted
up over her head so that others can see her nakedness? Is such a preacher
guilty of "pornographic preaching" or "filthy communication?" Well, we see
that in Nahum 3:5 and Jeremiah 13:26. If we are going to disfellowship from
preachers who do these things, we would have to rip these books out of our
Bibles. Let us not be stricter than God - that is legalism. God may inspire
a preacher to use graphic language to rebuke a wicked society and penetrate
their hard hearts. Was it not graphic for Isaiah to walk around barefoot
and naked?
How strange it is for people to say that you cannot preach the way the
Bible preaches. That is the same thing as saying that you cannot preach the
Bible.
Hey bro if you are not quick to say these words and explain them from a biblical perspective(and I know you do speak plainly) then the devil will be quick to have his workers speak to the folk with his plain speech on the same topic with a satanic twist.....keep rollin bro.
+OpenAirOutreach Jesse, I have seen many street preachers here on YouTube and you by far in my opinion are one of the most effective and have it down right. I think it's because you preach straight from the Bible and reason with people and help them out of their sin using Scripture and logical arguments. Like you often say, you don't need the Bible to know sin is wrong, deep down you know sin is wrong because your conscience convicts you. I like that you also engage people and let them ask questions, since questioning is the key to finding the truth. I like that you don't call people out specifically, but you explain sinful behavior and let their conscience convict them of their sin. Using graphic language in a sick society we live in is not wrong if it's used in a reasonable way to show people their sin. Talking about genitals or nakedness is acceptable as there is nothing inherently wrong with these things as God created all these things with a purpose in mind. Using words like whore is acceptable as it comes straight from the Bible. But I have seen many preachers that do go too far in using extremely graphic terms or target people and I believe this hurts more than helps. I've seen preachers use unnecessary words like fag or queer or worse and scream at people instead of showing them why it's wrong to be homosexual and offer them a solution. Keep up the good work brother! God bless.
+TeckyGirl ForLife If my wife or daughter were whoring around, I would want them to know what they really are doing and would want them to be rebuked for it that they might repent.
+Johnny Rocket Slut can be a good word because it does shame them and I do use it at times but I prefer a more biblical word like whore, though you have to explain to them that not just prostitutes are whores but any slut is a whore (anyone woman having premartial sex)
This is a very important principle for the street preaching community to
grasp: "Let us never try to break fellowship with or force others to hold
to our own personal preferences or convictions over non-essential issues."
There is a lot of unnecessary division and we ought to work hard to
maintain the unity of the brethren. Some are too quick to cause disunity.
+OpenAirOutreach When your friend told you about using the term monosexual consider looking at it this way : The word "mano" in spanish means hand just a suggestion
I appreciate what you said about division especially. I also appreciate the
way you bring out that these words are strong by nature and are appropriate
for showing how sinful people really are. I think people want to see
Caspar Milquetoast in the pulpit. They want ineffective preaching that
will change nobody and bring nobody to repentance.
Nice video man I just got a quick question about marriage. Is marriage the
act of sex like when Judah had sex with Shua and then they became married
or is it following the rules of the country like getting a certificate
thanks for reading this and I hope you can answer.
+Looking for The light Sex does not itself mean marriage. The Bible speaks of rape, fornication, adultery, etc. If sex meant marriage, none of those things could really exist. You must have two people who are giving themselves to each other in marriage.
