I played this Bassamp for about 2 years... I always wondered about the LOW
power.
The 750 watts on 4 ohm were always to low for my ears. I played him with
1x15 and one 4x10 Hiwatt cabs. 2 weeks ago i bought a HARTKE HA 5500 with
"only" 500 watts at 4 ohm. He blows me and my Hardcore-Band away - he has
much more power as the Lowdown and sounds much more deeper and i as i
already wrote much more POWERFULL.
So i decided to meter the capacity of the lowdown... 200watts on 8 ohms.....
Thx @ line6-_-
@dumapies They have their niche. I would gladly get one of these as opposed
to each of the amps it models. I mean, if I had the money, sure I'd get an
SVT, but I have a crappy job, and I'm not an endorser. And the inputs on
this amp says "Passive" and "Active", not "Guitar". And if you hate Line 6
so much , why watch their videos. People are going to buy them whether or
not they like them, not because of some guy who has already established his
dislike for the company.
@321kapow depends on the ohms. For example, if it's 4 ohms (which the video
states), you can run two 8 ohm cabs. Just don't try to run below that. As a
rule, you cut the ohms in half by doubling the cabs. I.E. two 16 ohm cabs
makes 8 ohms, two 8 ohm cabs make 4 ohms, etc. And you would want to have
matching loads. Don't mix 4 and 8, or 16 and 4, etc. Just get two 8 ohm
cabs and you'd be set. That's what most people run anyways. Don't see you
needing any more than 2.
I have a stupid question - I want to run a single 8 ohm 300Watt (Hartke)
cab off this head. Is it simply a case of hooking a speakon cable to
1/4inch lead into one of the speakon ports? The message on the back saying
8 ohm pairs only threw me off. I know I only get 375Watts this way but can
I do it this way?
i have owned this amp for about 8 months now and it amazing. i run it
through 2 line6 cabs each 8ohms and its bloody loud. iwas running through a
marshall cab didnt sound to good though so i got the line6 instead. if ur
thinking of buyin 1 get it, even with 1 cab at 8ohms it sounds sweet and
loud.
I absolutely hated that synth as soon as I played it, but after just
messing about with it tonight, I loved it! Sure the tracking is pretty
messy, but some of the sounds are great fun! Put the bass down low, at
about 7 o'clock, and it amazing, especially with my souped up fretless!
I don't think so. If you daisy chain two 8 ohm loads it will simply deliver
a 4 ohm load to both utilizing the full 750W. This amp is a tone coloring
toy really. Get a genz benz shuttle 6.2 for the same money and your bass
with sing :) unless you have a crappy bass :)
8 ohm pair or 4 ohm single? Thats awkward. Switches the loads in series.
Most amps have outputs parallel, I think. I have two 8 ohm loads, which I
want to run in parallel to have 4 ohm. Will have to do the wiring myself if
I get this amp :(
Gearwire.. please give me info... Is it possible to use it on any type of
cabinets?? Will it loose volume if you use fks. an Ampeg 810 or any type of
other cabs than the Line 6 cab??? If someone knows, please tell me!
both 4x10 cabinets should have outputs for a link cable. plug one into the
back of the head and use a 1/4" link cable between the cabinets to run
both. I have this head and was able to use 2 cabinets fine with mine.
@baronofbefoulment If you need to run more, then you should get a another
amp. Maybe just a power amp, since this amp has the line out so you can do
that. Then you can run more cabs if you need to.
A very dull fuzzy amp with an overdrive, probably one of the worst sounding
bass amps on the market, impossible to get a sweet clean sound, often seen
for re-sale in near brand new condition.
@CaptainCangaroo If you have a rack with a power conditioner or power
sequencer, problem solved. Flip one switch and everything powers up. Check
out Monster and Furman.
