I love how you made the background and the colors are very airy - I love those colors together. We are going to Seaside in February for my birthday so we will HAVE to check out the gelato! We live just north of Portland, OR so we go to Seaside alot - it's one of our favorite places to go.

Glad you went ahead and shared this. Lots of great tips even if we didn't see you do them. Stacking the white cardstock-great way to use of scraps of that. Placing embellies of same color as gelatos in matching areas-fun way to use them. Cutting down your background-love how the scribbly outline and journaling worked out with that. Gold stickers-photo corners, scallop border on another video-don't have the stickers but I have gold foil paper and punches so I could do something with that. Reminder to use my gelatos-guess I have mostly colorful pp but think I have a couple sheets where I could use this technique. Have you tried watered down acrylic paint instead of gesso? I only have white gesso and it for some reason has become soupy. TFS

+Jen Schow Got to the bottom of my gesso problem-literally. Realized it had thickened in the bottom and loosened it us some with a chop stick. Think it's kind of old. Seems to say 2007 on the bottom.

+Tracy Zook I haven't used watered down paint in place of gesso...I don't think it would work the same, but the gesso should still work if you stir it. It doesn't matter if it's somewhat liquid. Good luck!

What is the purpose of the clear gesso? Is it always necessary when using gelatos? Thanks!

+Helen McLaughlin the gesso isn't absolutely necessary, but it helps the gelatos to "move" a little easier and blend more easily too. You can use clear or regular gesso, but I used clear because I wanted to background paper to remain visible. It also helps keep the paper a little bit sturdier.

+Cody Doll I don't actually use a tripod. I use this gooseneck clamp (//amzn.to/1g7yEUp) attached to a shelf above my desk and my iPhone 6!

Question are the muji pens dry a soon as they write? I'm a lefty and am always looking for the perfect pen. How is it on slick surfaces?

+scrappychar I just did a test on normal paper - they dry pretty much immediately. On a slick surface, they take a bit of time to dry, but I have written on photos with success. Hope that helps!
