I'm not surprised that "some angst slipped in there". Has anyone actually listened to the lyrics of this song? About the only part that could be taken to mean "smile in the face of adversity"- the chorus- is preceded by "see the sarcasm in my smile". I have to wonder if it was written as an experiment by the band to prove that people ultimately don't pay much attention to all but the most basic lyrics. It's an upbeat melody and it says "Smile!" a lot so.... Yeah, I'm a git.
