My argument is strictly from Steam's original Mission Statement's perspective.But I am enjoying seeing what people think about this issue. Just remember: not all games are capped at 30 just because the producers decided to skip the extra mile for 60. Sometimes it's done for performance or immersion, I'm disgusted how everyone just turns their nose away at the thought of anything below 60FPS.Regardless, trying to make progress with this argument is pretty much trying to push open a pull door. +darkfury45 You've clearly got a case of low standards but I don't care, I would play many games at 30-40 fps for the quality of visual effects, I used to do that a lot,  but I would rather a game get burned to the ground if it makes my personal choices for me. I did not pay thousands  on parts for some self important shmuck to lock the game's framerate because of his own reasons. How amazing you personally might find a game has nothing to do with me, there is no such thing as "smooth 30 fps". Yeah I might sound like pretentious dick, but I have that right as a consumer, to expect a finished product that lets me do what video games let me do 20 fucking years ago. Don't even tell me how hard it is, it doesn't matter.

+FED L. <WARNING>: This goes into rant length, there is a tl;dr at the end though.It never WAS unacceptable, just because a game runs at 30fps doesn't inherently make it bad, and I find it disgraceful that people like you are too blind to think otherwise. Game runs at 60+ fps? Great! You have a smooth looking game. 30 fps? FINE, that's cool as well if it's intended as a slower paced game. If the game's art style isn't supported by the fps, then THAT'S when we have the issue.Rather than simply flagging games that run at 30FPS, flag games that are poorly optimized; be it the FPS doesn't match the content or fluctuates randomly like in AC:Unity. Some people choose 30FPS for their games because it fits the theme of the game. For instance, dark souls 2 initially ran at a smooth 30 fps. And it worked! Dark Souls isn't a fast-paced game like MGS:Revengenace, but was actually meant to be slightly slow paced so the players would be able to react with what's going on. They managed in 60, but watching game play from both the original and the SotFS add-on, i prefer the 30FPS because it's more realistic feeling and helps with the immersion of the world. A 30FPS game is unfinished? That makes no sense as the frame rate is meant to represent the pace of the game. 60FPS is standard? Well that's true with owning a phone, does that mean someone who doesn't have an iPhone or the latest tech isn't a fully fledged member of society? No! And the same goes for games, 30FPS isn't unfinished, and I find it to be more reliable than some games that try to push for 60 and wind up having massive fluctuations.This tag of shame isn't helping anyone, it's merely pointing at games that run at 30FPS - good or bad, polished or unrefined - and this is putting people off of games. I hate seeing great games being ignored because of this, and I find it shameful that this is happening to the community. I understand that it's an issue with some fast-paced games (TB's let's not play need for speed video), but for any other game that isn't about speed, 30FPS is fine by me, and should be fine by anyone who thinks/knows the game is good.Tl;dr,The only time people should complain is if the FPS rate doesn't suit the game itself. If the game is fast paced, then players should be able to experience fast frame rates to actually convey the speed in the game. If the game is slow paced, then 30, heck 20 for a rare gem, would be fine. The frame rate should be smooth and be optimized for the game, be it fast or slow paced, and all this hype about 60FPS being the best is misplaced and causing some great games to go unnoticed.

And people should be very well informed, because that information, despite it's importance is deliberately hidden and this "shame badge" is the Streisand Effect taking it's course.I will never support fooling people into a product thinking it is a full fledged product on grounds that it just might fit their subjective preferences. Because 30 fps is NOT a finished piece of work and by hiding that info, they ARE being mislead, simply because 60fps is standard, we expect no less.Mind you I don't jack off to 60fps video games and burn disks of 30fps games all day, I understand the situation where you might prefer to play at 30, but it is simply unacceptable to have that choice made for you . If this badge is driving people away just because they think 30fps is unacceptable for any game, regardless the pace of the game or its' art style, it's driving away potential consumers from a good game.

+Matt TerioThat's the thing, I really think the point is not seen at all. The game is either recognized by an ultra violent game that should not exist, or a fun piece of gaming to past time in all freedom. GTA V hasn't been the starter to the big discussion "are shit (or cops) too violent in the US", other things have brought the subject up to the public but never GTA.And I would feel like if it ever was a point from the devs to point out violence in the US, it might have been an excuse to create a big fuck off to the player. I'd feel like Benzies and others are the type of guys to look on the complaints people made rather than praising, and say, well you know what, fuck off. I mean seeing how smart they are marketing wise and how they successfully and "secretly" released a beta as a finished product, I would tend to take them as evil geniuses. More bad, than god, so in a sense, more grab the cash and suck my dick, than created a whole deeper meaning and point to the whole thing.But that's just me. The whole GTA V project has been disappointing to me. Even though in about 20 months I've accumulated around 1000 hours and a ton of fun with so many people.

And that opinion totally makes sense. For me though, I have enjoyed more the actual point of game systems than them becoming 'fun for the sake of fun' ideology. But I understand that for a game of this nature - an unadulterated canvas ripe of player exploits - to obstruct such potential with purposefully placed messaging could turn off or even infuriate other players that play these kinds of games for enjoyment rather than read and understand whatever the point behind is. I however, love Rockstar's decision to 'maturize' this series with GTA V.Now, they're making a point about the mindless violence we're accustomed in the past. The socially pointed commentary they've been doing since more than 10 years ago have never been more as controlled, and as tight yet brutally closer to reality than we think than what they've done in this game.This all comes back to what I have been pondering for the last several months after having finished the Last of Us: If games are supposed to be fun in order to be recognized as great, I highly doubt that The Last of Us would get the recognition it overly garnered at the time of its release. Also could be said to Silent Hill 2 and other horror genre classics. Genre has nothing to do with the necessity of an arbitrary imploration of fun. If it serves the game right then go ahead, make it as fun as you want it to be. But if you're trying to send a certain message to your audience be it poignant, pointedly striking, or guilt-inducing, forcing 'fun' could distract heavily from the point you have been carefully crafting all along.

+Matt Terio It's because I damn well know this that it's makes me mad and that GTA V may be one of my least favorites GTAs. GTA V seems sometimes to be a big fuck you to the player, genuinely.There's doing satire and there's fucking up the player's experience. IMO the freedom in GTA V was a little cropped because of the way police is constantly on your ass. It';s a radical change from LC, and it fits LS, but it just ain't my cup of tea.EDIT : Let me copy past this "I really believe they just wanted to say a big fuck you to the player. I mean the original police is absolutely op and relentless. The peds say infuriating things to you every time. The cops even more. You can get a wanted level just by being black and standing near a cop. +Anullu Either you didn't put everything in the right place, either you rebuilt the archive (which shouldn't be much of a problem but hey, it's unecessary), either there's someone around you didn't see and who witnessed the crime. Try to be in stealth mode when killing people, also, silencers of course.
