The contract won't protect WOnka; I'm pretty sure the minors are not
legally capable of signing contracts (and being held to them) (however, I'm
not sure whether this applies in the US, or whatever country WOnka's
factory is in :P )
I hate this new wave of hipster wannabe's adding a more sinister edge into
this film than there is. That isn't to say that there isn't a smirking
sense of villainy in the film, because there is, because Dahl rolls that
way. But no, the kids did not die. Wonka is not a slave master, and he is
not a pedophile.
+The Jaws Pedophile point aside, while probably not intentional, the theory does make a lot of sense when you think about it and it explains a lot of Wonka's actions. So, as far as head-cannon goes, I'll buy this. Wonka wanted to kill them off and had a series of situationally-specific songs ready for each of the children's deaths. He probably had an excuse and song ready for Charlie, too, that went to waste when the kid managed to survive his pseudo-Saw death trap.
I wonder, if you have actually read the books at ALL? Very honestly..
things like this on the internet make me sick.. people trying to sound
intelligent. Like they understand the movies on some 'subliminal level'
when all they are doing (and Hollywood has ever done) is reducing
everything to sex and violence - whether it is something they have read on
the internet these days or seen in other movies. The fact is that a child
can work out the moral (a.k.a. meaning) of these stories for themselves
without this kind of smut thrown at them and it's only the REAL weirdos out
there that find it necessary to make a fucking 'how to' video about it!
Seriously... read an encyclopaedia and make a video about something useful!
This kind of stuff is completely useless and makes you and all the people
that buy into it sound like idiots... I weep for future generations.
+dracocrusher I suppose I was a bit of a numpty, and felt the need to have to say something that became more of a personal attack, rather than a general sentiment about what I feel is the disappearance of innocence in a society that seems to becoming more and more obsessed with little things that don't actual matter, but actually ended up sounding like a hypocrite (also read as imbecile)! :-) I'm really sorry for the personal attack there Leon - and thanks for the reality check Dracocrusher.
+dracocrusher I love how it's not even entitlement, selfishness, or laziness the you list. XD "Selfies! Oh how I weep for my children! How I mourn that they will undoubtedly ruin their lives by taking selfies!" I'm teasing of course. ;)
+Tiggertori If you're taking this video seriously, then you really haven't seen Leon's actual reviews. Of course this isn't what they intended with the film, of course this isn't the only interpretation, of course it goes against the established theme of the movie. BUT, and this is something I need you to really take into consideration, it's fun to examine crazy theories like this and try to make them sound as plausible as possible. Also, just throwing this out there, if THIS is what you're upset about, a fan theory video made by someone around his mid 20s-30s, then that's kind-of sad. No, Selfies, textspeech, and the bastardization of remakes isn't why you're sad for future generations.... It's this theory video by someone who knows better that obviously isn't true.
6:23 - WHY? - Why does Wonka have only half a safe, half pictures hanging
up, half the wallpaper, half a desk, half a hat stand, half a light. This
guy is completely crazy or he has only half his personality in tact and
the other half is suppressed or something. 8:19 (Groan)
+Geoff Shaw I feel sorry for Willy's Schnozberries? I have no idea how else to respond to that statement.... And I don't think I followed it that well, either....
Probably is. It's a bit of a propaganda film to make people pair up into couples, kind of outcasting the loner saying he/she (mostly he) is only half complete, and it doesn't take much of a strtch of the umagination to make willy wonka into willy wanka, but just a bit wonga on the word wanga and changing wong of the wetters.
+Geoff Shaw Fun for people of all ages! Lol. I kind-of want to see this film again just to see if there's anything else in it that proves that Willy Wonka is more obsessed with halves than Two Face.
+Geoff Shaw Half a desk, half the wallpaper, half of a hat stand, half a light, half a safe.... And only half of the group was meant to survive.... Of course adults wouldn't fall for all of this, but kids would. So he made sure that each ticket was only useful for one kid and one adult so half of them would survive. Just like how only half of them signed the contract.
