The sights, the sounds, the unique vantage points, all of which make up the premiere closed course temporary street race in the world. From the top of the Wells ...
During one of the Practice sessions, I had the occasion to talk with the
track announcer, Bruce Flanders ... he did not want to make any disparaging
remarks that would be "on-the-record" but he did say that the biggest
difference is the sound (while making an in-the-know arching eyebrow kind
of look).
I LOVE this race! I've been to several of them, mid 1990's, early 2000's.
back when Jimmy Vasser and Alex Zanardi were the kings of the street! For
me, this race is like a 2+ hour erection! It's amazing... watching this
gives me goose bumps and makes the hair on my neck stand up! Thanks for
posting!
What you saw were celebrities practicing for the Celebrity race in those
tc's. The Mustang GT was probably from the Formula Drift competition or
SPEED world challenge, and the F430 from the ALMS. Thursday's is testing
for the ALMS competition, and for celebrities learning the track in those
tc's.
Actually, there were about 100,000 people around the course on race day.
This size of crowd is about the size of the crowd for the annual USC/UCLA
college football game to decide the city championship. For the three days
of competition, attendance was estimated at around 200,000 total.
At the post practice press conference here in 2009, Justin Wilson, last
year's pole winner in the CCWS Panoz DP01, confirmed that these Dallaras
were a good three seconds slower and the difference was felt in top speed
and, of course, getting off of the corner entering a straight.
just out of intrest what's your like personal car I can imagine not knowing
you at all but the video your putting up its like a souped up Skyline or
something lol. Just curious
Palace Malice best by far in this race...could tell he was going to be big
time based on this run, and was one of the best in Derby too...set super
hot pace and still finished in top half of field.

I must have been drunk when I made this video so sorry about that. Too shaky and last video was a different format. (That's why it looks too close). But anyways ...
