Indeed, the muffled sound conjures up the sensation of repression, showing
exactly his point that our rational positivism has tried to dismiss the
subconscious as mere fairy tales. Our failure to study and listen
seriously to the needs of our individual and collective unconscious has
often lead to violence and persecution as we project the figments of our
inner world onto others with disastrous consequences. We benefit from a
global sharing of religious traditions in the 21st century. But
unfortunately, some people have left behind our Western tradition of law
and human rights and we are seeing a steady willingness to lie and to kill,
without the restraint of religious or moral law. People frequently refer
to other humans using dehumanization imagery, calling them animals or pets
or leaves or even dirt to be swept away or spade and neutered. This
irrational arrogance is very dangerous, especially when it is taught and
promoted by some religious groups instead of being treated as illness
and/or as a dangerous path to criminal behavior or unnecessary war. We
need more than ever to hear clearly and loudly scholars like Wouter
Hanegraaff and his understanding of the powerful role of the subconscious
in Western History. Please unmuffle him in the future and share more of
his critical analysis and historical perspective.
Unfortunately, the atrocious sound quality ruins this presentation. It is
really disappointing, because this is such a profoundly illuminating paper,
as one might reasonably expect from Wouter Hanegraaff - clearly of enduring
relevance and deep practical significance to serious students of esoteric
understanding.
too bad about the sound, I can barely get it, but as always, Dr. Hanegraaf
is clear and precise in reasoning and brings forth a serious legitimization
of a much needed area of human knowledge.
