Flash Player 10.1 crashes my ATI Radeon HD 5870 using Catalyst 10.6
Using a 2 days old MS Windows 7 Ultimate installation with only the following installed: * all "Important" updates * all latest, non-beta drivers (including all ATI ...
Good call with the BIOS update. I'm having trouble with my 4870, which will
crash (freeze, freeze->blank screen, both with glitchy looping audio, OR
1/10 crashes is a blue screen, or a couple times my display dropped to
640x480, 16 colors...) but ONLY when I'm watching full-screen or high
resolution video. YouTube/Flash OR your average downloaded *ahem* .MKVs,
etc. I'm going to work out how to boot into a nice DOS environment (haven't
done that in a while...) and upgrade the BIOS. We'll see!
There is a combination of problems causing this, regardless of your
conclusion it is entirely a the fault of Adobe's software. If you're having
this problem, revert to Flash player 10.0x.x. Installing any new version of
Flash player 10.1 will immediately cause an atikmpag.sys blue screen in
Windows 7 x64 upon viewing .swf video content. 10.1x's hardware
acceleration implementation is causing conflicts with ATI UVD BIOS settings
regardless of Adobes fronting the blame on ATI.
Ati driver from 10.5 upwards cause bsod, reboot, screen freeze regardless
the pc in idle mode or not. MSI Afterburner lessing this issue but still
cause the same effect regardless the time is over 5 min or not. Disable AI
or/and System event viewer doesn't help that much, though it fix the random
crash every 1 min when starting a program. The driver I think going give
-10/10. That is not driver it is application to run bsod and destroy you
computer.
@AlexisSmith077 The problem lies squarely with ATI drivers, u will get a
"ATi driver stopped functioning and has recovered" msg, followed by a
system freeze; and this annoying glitch still persists in the latest
drivers... Like the rest said, disabling hardware acceleration for flash is
the only viable work-around method, unless ATI or adobe comes up with a fix
(not anytime soon).
Flash player would crash whenever I would try viewing a flash video on full
screen. I was using Catalyst 10.7, flash player 10.1, and on a HD 4890 xt.
I was able to fix it by disabling graphics acceleration on the flash
player. Right click < and uncheck the option. Hope that helps.
@BDKsoft hey man im using a 4890 and just installed catalyst 10.11... IT
FUCKED MY GAMES UPSIDE DOWN... cod BO kept crashing dawn of war 2 has
significant fps drops.. league of legends have some gp glitches, the only
game that is not affected is starcraft 2... any help?
A little update on the issue: * Catalyst 10.7 did not solve the issue * It
now seems like a hardware issue afterall... More details you can find here:

glad im not the only one whos been having this problem. 5870 and Opera, get
a nasty 3 second halt when it begins loading the page/video, and then very
often the whole thing seizes up and the VPU has to restart. did it 10.1,
10.12, and still with the new ones
With "too hot" I mean outside yes :) It's 35°C atm here in Belgium... The
temps of my GPU and CPU are perfect (85°C for the GPU after 30min furmark,
as you can see in the video - 80°C for the CPU after hours of Linpack)
@maxpower201 Thanks for the recommendation! I was having a similar problem
with flickering and the occasional crash and disabling acceleration did the
trick. Thanks again! Well wishes to Mastakilla13 as well! =o
thanks for the advice! I was kinda hoping for a solution without
downgrading though... In meanwhile, I figured out that disabling hardware
acceleration solves the problem (but that isn't ideal either)
@Mastakilla13 Hey thanks . I am having the same problem too. And the url
thing is to prevent the spammers who comment on trailers that you watch at
so and so free movie site
@Mastakilla13 what are your temps at for your cpu and gpu? use coretemp or
speedfan for cpu and gpu-z for the video card. and what do you mean that
its to hot atm? outside?
@Mastakilla13 Can you explain me how did you fixed that ? Because i have
the same problem if i play videos here on Youtube.. with my Sapphire radeon
5770 hd card. Thanks !
@tappeddarkman89 I also tried in IE (you can see it in the video, but it is
not very clear) I didn't play games yet (too hot atm, but I'll try once
it's more bearable)
i have the same problem, but mire that my screen turns black, bit like
artifacts and then the videocard driver crashes. I have 2x a hd4830 and
also using opera
One more step needed to enable true full screen playback (at least on
Amazon Instant Video) - in OUYA menus go to the Advanced System Settings,
choose HDMI and there enable "Show the video full-screen on the external
display".
It worked for me. I needed adobe flash to use meshare a video uplink page
for IP cameras on a galaxy S6 and this was the only way I got it to run
after several attempts
