Many college grads are finding their degrees useless and they need jobs too but these permanent workers make it hard to get hired for simple jobs. Most college students cannot get part time jobs now because of these people who want it to be treated as a permanent occupation. There is alot less social mobility now.

Not everybody had parents well off enough to put them through college, or the time or skills to get better qualifications. When exactly are these people who spend so much of their time doing a job you deem to be not 'real' supposed to look for a job, a lot of these people are working overtime just to feed their kids. That's before you even consider that there just aren't enough well paying jobs out there, there will always have to be waiters, cleaners etc, I'd rather they didn't have to live in poverty. in this system even if 100% of the population were physically able, well trained, motivated, skilled etc, the working poor would still exist, it's not a meritocracy.Personally I'd do away with the whole tipping thing and just pay a proper wage.
