I was the access controller for there bunkers from 1966-1967. The bunkers stored nuclear bombs for the B-52's at the base. I know there must have been enough explosive force in those bunkers to destroy much if not all the world! The area was manicured and not grown up like it is now. We had a constant vehicle patrol and teams of sentry dogs on the ground. I always thought it was strange that it was located so far from the base and it could be quite creepy at night. We used to have to cross public roads to get the bombs to and from the base.

PS: this is the "old" Ramey base and not the current airport location. The to bases connected thru gates located in the town of Calero. The gates are still there but closed. You can see the bunkers on Google if you look close and know where to look..
