Of course, you have more SD. I'm saying the box is wrong for SPL and the
car has way too many weak points and air leaks to get the number you should
be seeing. Back in the mid 90's when I was heavily into car audio I did
141.3db with 2 Punch DVC 10's and 2 Punch DVC 12's in a 1994 Regal with
600watts @ 63hz Those subs did not have the xmax today's subs have.
Everyone laughed at me when I put up my bracing for the contest, but I was
6-9db more than them because of it. With less power.
I see. I was under the impression from you videos, that you were going for
SPL. I still believe that you will get better sound and pressure from 4
15's in the right box. But it will require you to actually test your cabin
for the best box and placement, not just cramming in woofers. Is the
TERMlab yours? If so, why not add the SQ software and measure you cabin
gain and transfer?
IASCA event, I believe the use Audio Control RTA's. It was 1998 and I
believe the world records then were in the high 150's for SPL. A lot of
people back then didn't understand how to build for SPL competition and
would build a system to play music. Not a tone. I do think the way the
mounted the microphones back then, had an effect on the measurements.
You should get some road signs to use in place of the wood.. Thats what I
did when I blew my side windows in the back of my corolla in college.. Also
haveyou refigured your tuning since you added the extra 12s?
too many subs for the box volume. I would suggest building a wall and
supporting the front window and roof with bracing. A good 4th order
"tunnel" design will net you a better spl then this box.
not my TL otherwise you would see a hell of alot more meter videos !!!! ive
spent 8 years collecting this system . its what i want , not what spl , SQ
or anything else wants .
i did more bracing and am still tweaking things and building the car . i
highly doubt the meter you used in the mid 90's is no where near the same
as a true TL of today.
