925 means 925 Silver in 1000 parts metals. 925/1000. Other metals are added to make modern silver harder. Nice find Gerd! Good luck today, Ken

Hi Ken,yes I know.. 925 is sterling and since the mid 70's a international mark.. we also had 800 Silver in Germany .. I believe in England (or Great Britain) the Lion stands for Sterling but it was 935 Silver .. what I haven't found yet is when the Hallmark Lion or in Germany the crown.. was swapped for 925 stamp..Best regardsGerd

I believe around 1900 they started using 925 instead of the Lion.. or in Germany we had different types of Hallmarks ..Best regardsGerd
