Having served 13 years in the Army, I see how government continually finds ways to justify its existance and validate expansion into every aspect of life. It grows like a cancer if left unchecked. People get excited about new programs and new departments becuase it means more money and potential openings for higher paid positions within the part of government that they work in. I wonder how many people are employed by local, state and federal government as a total percentage of the workforce.

Even when federal spending cuts are made, they are just recreated under the guise of another program. Example: Army cuts number of cooks that are Soldiers and replaces them with contractors that are supposedly cheaper. With the left over money they find a way to spend it on new cooking equipment and dining facility remodels or new chow halls. Fact is, that the new civilian contractors are still dependent on goverment CHEESE. Whatever flavor, it is still government CHEESE!

Oh, and as soon as I heard that auto sales were up 17% in June or something along those lines, I knew it had to be propped up by government fleet replacements and new government purchases. Come on! I bet that mechanics tools and repair manuals sales are up, too! People just can't afford more debt, let alone a new car! Civilians are being forced to go the cheapest route possible when it comes to Autos.

Years ago as a "Federal Officer" (USCG) we were trained to NOT shoot at a suspect unless that suspect AIMS a weapon at us, or is in the ACT of throwing a knife at us. We were reminded of this over and over again.........so now officers can shoot someone who is simply running away from us (weapon or not)?? The officer was NOT in danger here!!!
