Not too much of a fan of the PW 4000's but i prefer the rolls royce trebt 700's. One thing i do find unique on the older -200 is the classic Hi/Lo chime instead of the newer updated chimes which are in just about every newer airbus aircraft.

@Rucra1 Maybe you sat behind the engines? In the case of these noisy engines they are louder if you sit in front of them. Experience proves that. Sorry for the triple-post, looks like YT has had some issues.

I hear some people are saying these might be GE engines they are actually PW4168As its and A330-223 they have retired them all now and only use A330-343s with RR Trent 772B engines

I hate the spool up sound. It sounds like a giant refrigerator. I love the engine sound of Airbus A320, A321, A340-300 and A340-313. The engines of these aircrafts sound a lot better.

The reduction noise at 2:15 is really there. It's as loud as it's heard. I've been on them and I could swear my ears began hurting, it's not a nice experience. PW4168s suck!!!

No. The engine sound is not beautiful. It sounds like a giant refrigerator. Most likely, this aircraft uses GE CF engines.

I prefer the sound of the Rolls-Royce Trent 500 on the A340-600 and the GE90-90B on the 777-200.

Once you get to cruising altitude they're fine. Try sitting behind them for 8 hours.
