Where I live the county has it's own snowplow fleet...and our own fleet of
garbage trucks. Yeah here in arlington, VA we like to waste our money. My
tax dollars go to the county so they can cut down old (400 year old
+)healthy trees, replace sidewalks that are in perfect condition, repave
smooth roads leaving the bad roads untouched, take one lane of traffic away
so they can have bike lanes that rarely get used, add median strips that we
don't need, and overstaff the police force.its kinda scary
I don't know, maybe Sanitation plowing a good foot or two of snow is more
to the point than a 1/2 min video of someone just talking while the subject
of your video is in the back? Long videos doesn't necessarily = more views.
Short and to the point works most of the time. Seriously though, this
video's been up for 9 months, yours was up for 2 days. Views aren't going
to jump up overnight. By the way, thanks. I didn't know I had 6k views on
this vid. Makes me want to brave the cold again.
@tobbzor In large cities, there are a ton of streets to be plowed. If you
think about it. The sanitation trucks need to go all over the city anyways
to pick up garbage. Why not have them plow while they are doing that? Also,
if the sanitation truck needs to get down a street that hasn't been plowed,
how could they get down it if they don't have plows themselves?
Sadly it snows quite a bit around here. But it doesn't quite measure up to
Upstate NY. We usually get a bad storm once in a while, but we normally
average around 1-2 feet just about. Then you have a bit of rainfall and it
all then just turns to slush then ice. The DSNY usually gets rid of all
main street's snow by the morning after so it's not all too bad.
@BurningTirez Your confusing size with power. The PennDOT trucks are most
likely built on International or Sterling chassis (am I right?) most of
which probably have about the same amount of power as these Macks. So while
the plows in the rest of the country may look bigger, the chassis are
actually quite similar except for the cabs and plow sizes.
Brings back memories of my time with the DSNY back in the eighties. Spend
the whole 4-12 shift putting plows on trucks, keeping the heaters filled
with kerosene, and sending the spreaders to pick up a load of salt.
@giguchan Yeah this past "storm" was a bust, which was good since I didn't
want to shovel anyway. Checking the weather now there's a bit coming our
way, I guess I'll get to test out the snowblower this time.
Haha you're lucky. People were trying so hard to peel out of the street
only to find out that their tires were all snowed under. Oh well. Hopefully
we won't experience such a blizzard next year.
@giguchan No problem. Luckily this time around, there isn't as much
snowfall. We're slated for some this Tues in NYC and a bit of it fell an
hour ago. Nothing apocalyptic though haha.
@giguchan Nah, though I suppose out in LI, snow blowers are as prevalent
there as shovels are in the city. Jk, I have to say though, it does
alleviate broken backs that's for sure.
Yes, thanks for that tip, I've added the extra tags. I uploaded that video
back when I first joined youtube so I wasn't too good w/tagging. Glad you
enjoyed it, it is rather cool.
True, very true. However during these past storms, did they come down your
side streets? Because they totally missed mine and everyone was sliding
down this narrow street.
how does this get like 6thousand views, i have a video of us at the bus
stop and a garbage truck, and its like 36 seconds not 13. it doesnt make
sence.
WHAT ? big apple take only this kind of trucks to remove snow on manhattan
?
