Is that a lot for this kind of chemical? No, it's not. The human exposure limit is 20ppm ( //en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2-Butoxyethanol#Human_exposure) or almost 40x higher than it was actually found. Of note, this is well below the EPA safe drinking water standard. Or in other words, what the study found was water that was perfectly safe to drink. The shock! The horror! These people were doing legitimate science and you've taken advantage of it to push a message of scaremongering. I suggest reading the facts for yourself. Don't trust me, read up on it. And for heavens sake don't just assume that any amount of any chemical you've never heard of in 3 wells in the middle of nowhere immediately means disaster. Do you know many people get sick because rats die in their well? Or local minerals that aren't good for humans get leached in from the rocks? Jesus, have some perspective. Water quality is tricky business in the best of circumstances. We certainly should care about how fracking can (and surely does in at least some cases) add unhealthy stuff to drinking water. But so can a million other things -- let's be reasonable about it. Totally safe-to-drink quantities of some molecule in 3 wells? Not a disaster.

I live in PA and yeah, I've been distilling and filtering my drinking water for years now. I knew this shit would be happening since I first heard about hydraulic fracturing. I wish I could do something about the bathing water, though. There aren't very many good technologies that work on that scale that aren't prohibitively expensive.
