Good idea, but people usually start smoking at age 14 or so, so it probably won't work. Same thing with drinking age: the legal drinking age in Canada is usually 18 or 19, but I first had a drink when I was about 8!

The science behind why marijuana is illegal? Harry Anslinger our first drug czar said it makes darky think he is as good as a white man. that is why marijuana is illegal. Google it. Horton says "agree there may be some benefit but we don't smoke our medicine in the USA", Then why is it illegal to grow it? are they assuming we will smoke it. No emphysema, no copd, no lung cancer- the opposite has been shown and the mechanics behind those claims are being revealed almost daily. The FDA has not run a test a serious study on marijuana in decades because the department of justice wont let them. I laughed so hard that the last claim the ONDCP pushed through partnership for drug free america that claimed it had a cancer risk. It was a case study of 4- with 2 heavy tobacco smokers and one with prior massive viral lung infections.

I agree it's not about medicine. I think this push for medical use is the wrong way to go. We need to legalize primarily because of all the violence that is caused by making these substances illegal. The vast majority of murders that happen in this country every day occur over control of the drug trade. It's been 40 years of the war on drugs and it's clear we will never eliminate the use of these substances. We CAN stop the death and violence that surround them though by legalizing.

I can't believe the hypocrisy in this segment. Seriously lets all be adults and admit the facts. All the people who die every year because of prescription drugs, all the side affects they list. I like drinking but its better when I have a few, then" chill", then have a few more. Its just as easy to regulate if not easier then booze, and people abusing prescription drugs. Horton has no idea what he's talking about, they regulate tobacco and that will kill you alot faster than marijuana. Even alcohol can be worse than marijuana, you'd have to smoke your body weight (in marijuana) within 15 minues to actually die from marijuana. That touches on the REAL reason marijuana is still illegal, the pharmaceutical companies are well aware of the fact that marijuana can treat a variety of health issues cheaply, more effectively, less addictively, and with fewer side effects than many of the prescription drugs they sell for exorbitant prices that can literally bankrupt those who must purchase them. Legislators pockets are lined with drug company gold.

Please write to your representatives in your state and voice your opinion that marijuana should be legalized. Enough time has been wasted by these stupid prohibition laws. Alcohol and tobacco kill much more people a year. Take the drugs out of the gang's hands who make profits and place the profits in the hands of the government, esp since we are in an economic decline.

I think that the comments on this video should be much more articulate and lower on profanity than they are. Because then, officials can't point to critics of Mr. Horton or his organization and say they are just foul-mouthed fools which I know none of you are. We should show them that marijuana does not, I repeat, does not affect people the way they say it does.

Individuals that are anti-hemp/marijuana are closed minded people who just want to be told what to believe and don't want to investigate anything for it's authenticity. Like lambs following the sheep herder. Even if it remained illegal for "recreational" use, hemp could save the world. But instead the government permit poisons such as alcohol to be legal.

"Tobbaco has more risks than marijuana" Surely that is the reason 400 thousand people die every year because tobbaco, and in 10 thousand of mankind year never one person has died because marijuana. "We don't smoke our medicine" But we can smoke tar with tobbaco. Furthermore, surely we cant eating, drinking or steaming marijuana.

I love it when Horton makes the assumption that opiate pain relievers are "safe" because they are FDA regulated. Ironically, marijuana is less addictive than caffeine. I have lost friends and relatives to opiate medications after they were prescribed to them, but I have never heard of a person dying from marijuana.
