This is correct. If you are really concerned with longevity, Adam Re, go
with a samsung 830 series ssd. Preferably a 128gb or bigger because the
64gb version isn't made to be as fast with read/write speeds. Go look up
reviews of 830's anywhere and try to find a "my ssd died" review for it;
you wont. Many mechanical hdd's die after a few years anyway. I believe a
hybrid mix is the best way to go. Get a 128gb ssd for your OS and a few
games or demanding apps, and get a hdd for storage means.
Yes and no. It all depends how much you use them. In areas with constant
writes/rewrites, you will wear it out much faster. That being said, in the
typical consumer application, you are totally correct in saying it will
last longer. And to add to what you said with the speeds, a mechanical hard
drive can write ~110MB/s. Solid state can do roughly 600MB/s(sata 6Gbps),
~375MB/s(sata 3Gbps), or ~187.5MB/s(sata 1.5Gbps). I love my SSD. What
brand did you get? (message me if its easier for you)
I would think most western people would consider the NZ landscape as
exotic. Moari culture is most definitely exotic. And maybe you're a tight
ass, but cost doesn't define the experience for most people. New Zealand
may be more expensive but that can be said for most western vs Asian
countries. If it is all about cost... Africa is the greatest holiday
EVER!!! Don't let bias make you sound ignorant dude. Every place has it's
positives and the experience is subjective. Simple as that.
Not entirely. ANY solid state device (flash cards, USB drives, SSD's, etc.)
has limited write cycles. The number of write cycles WILL go down on a
partition until that partition no longer can be written to. In comparison
to regular HDD's, they'll theoretically last forever, but the motors wear
out, the actuator in the arm dies, bearings die, etc. I have 500MB HDD's
from epic long time ago that still can read/write data, haha. Still a smart
upgrade (SDD), definitely worth it!!
SSD? OK, been there. But what really fascinates me is the way you can drive
a scooter in Taiwan streets, and the fact that you have special lanes, etc.
, I think it's great! I wish we had that here in Florida, but the idiots
driving here would not allow for it, or allow only scooter lanes for that
matter. What the Fuck was that you passed on the scooter lane at about
6:05? Was that a handicap scooter? Are they allowed on this lane also?
That's crazy! Anyway, keep riding. M
Mordeth, I have some advice. Use MSConfig (Start > Run > MSCONFIG) then go
to the start up tab. Disable everything except your antivirus and important
drivers (or programs that you are guaranteed to use every time). A lot of
programs install additional shit in your start up (for example "ask
updater". Then go to your services tab and hide all microsoft services,
then do the same as above. Your PC will run faster this way and make sure
to service your PC every 6months or so.
same hear i do wander wh t was never really done before maybe there was a
problem with finding a gase that was lighter then air and wasn't flammable,
although this new technology will probably result in HDD's that re faster
and more reliable then SSD's i read an article a mounth ago which game
incredible high speads like 22,000 rpm and really fast speeds, i think the
numbers came from Western Digital originally but the technology will be
used for enterprise stuff first
Michio kaku was saying that technology doubles every year or every year and
a half (cant remember which but who cares anyway.) A crazy example he gave
was if you take the birthday card that you open and sings happy birthday,
the chip inside of that card is greater technology then all of the allied
forces technology of world war 2. a cell phone is more advance than all of
the technology of the cold war which is when the internet was invented.
food for thought.
I agree a SSD is a awesome upgrade their only real downside is the price.
However I also feel upgrading the RAM is the biggest improvement most
people will get from upgrading the HD is not far behind but RAM is where
the CPU works from and will provide huge performance gains in nearly
everything the user does on the computer. Not to mention RAM is cheap as
dirt for most computers so upgrading to at least 16GB should be at the top
of the list of upgrades.
To be specific about M13's response: Under average working conditions a
Vertex 3 (fairly modern) SSD has a mean time between failure of over 200
years. The VelociRaptor series of HDD have a MTBF of 136 years. These are
statistical numbers, but they work to compare the durability over time of
these drives. SSDs are simply more resistant to failure, and write
durability is now measured in the millions. Don't worry about an SSD
failing before a HDD.
but still there is a limit to how much you can use an ssd that will always
be true, i still believe there is a market for hdd's because they are
reliable if they are looked after properly and they are still very fast
compared to past drives and are getting faster like i said the new hellium
technology will mean alt for reliability and speeds of hdd's they might
even become faster and higher capacities although they will probably be a
bit pricier
ssd's are good but the cells inside them can only be used so much until
they die, so if you use your ssd all the time as a gaming drive it will
only last about 3 years thats just from past experience, ssd's should
really be limited to boot up drives and high performance hard drives i use
for gaming 10,000 rpm velocaraptor works well but im really looking forward
to this new hellium technology that wd is coming out with
As a paranoid person, the main thing I wouldn't like about SSD is that
wiping data doesn't necessarily work because of the way SSD alternates the
cells it saves to for optimized speed (maybe there is a way to wipe now,
but this is the way it used to be). I guess you could just install windows
and everything else on top of True Crypt, but it's easier to get rid of
"incriminating" data on a HDD.
Oh snap! I don't even know how i decided to get one but i just ordered a
Corsair along with a core i3 for my system. I figure what's the big deal in
waiting a few seconds more for stuff but people are swearing it's the best
thing you can do for your computer. I also see some of them are less than
$50, maybe i'll pop one into the spare computer even if it is only SATA II
I live in Australia so the flight tickets would be roughly similar. And I
thought New Zealand would be more 'beautiful' and 'safe' than Taiwan. As
for the price, whether I'm paying $10 in taiwan or $50 in new zealand for a
boat ride, it wont bother me as much, as I plan on doing once or twice and
not really doing it at 'home' thanks for the reply though!
I decided to get a SSD for my new PC and I'm superhappy with it. Starts my
PC in like 15 secs, editing programs or games are started in literally 3
seconds, it's just great. Problem is that I'm quickly out of space on my
PC. Currently I have 60GB SSD, only 4GB left and no normal HDD yet. I need
to get a 1TB or 2TB SATA HDD soon.
Sadly thats not true :/ The new 20nm tech last even shorter time :( A SSD
drive will last a very long time if you just put all the stuff on it ones
and then just reads it but if you write and delete super often (Torrents)
it will burn trough the cells in maybe 10 years? so, and a HDD will last
like 20 if you treat it right :)
I don't know exactly what kind of SSD this guy was using, but a standard
SSD over a 7,2000rpm would be almost 80% faster. Tests run on same hardware
except the SSD/HDD, SSD took 27 seconds to boot and run a program, compared
to the HDD which took 52 seconds. Compare it to a gaming SSD and you're in
a different ball game.
that figur eis an average of ssd's that have bean used in intensuve
situations and low intesive situations, high being like a defrage were you
are moving files all the time, low meaning not many files are being
transfered all the time, depending on how you use your ssd it will either
shorten or lengthen that figure
I used to wear some light leather ninja gear when I rode, but after getting
some nasty broken ribs in a crash, I now always wear a full suit of padded
medieval knight armor (Surprisingly flexible) when I ride. However, I am
always wondering if I should take my lance with me on rides...What if it
rains? =\
If your laptop falls onto a hard surface one of three things will happen:
1) plain hard drive and you probably crash the drive for total data loss
and need a new drive, 2) g sensor hard drive and maybe it'll be okay, or 3)
solid state hard drive and all is fine with the drive and your data.
i got ssd and hdd both on my laptop, i put my os in the ssd and rest of
games and shit in the hdd whilst putting some high performanc games in
ssd.. my laptop starts in 14 seconds :) and i just turn off all the
unneccesary programs to load subprograms thou
I would use the SSD for the OS, and any large programs such as image
editing software, 3D design software, audio engineering software, and high
end games. The HDD would be used to hold miscellaneous stuff like pictures,
music files, and documents.
Here is a quote "So Flash drives are more than 2 orders of magnitude (100x)
better at random workloads but less than 2x better for sequential
workloads." So that puts them somwhere between 2x and 100x. I think 30x is
a fair average.
I had 2 60GB OCZ Vertex 2 drives fail on me within 6 months, needless to
say I'm not the biggest fan of SSD's at the minute. The prices have dropped
significantly though since I had mine and hopefully they are more reliable
now.
"a 40-year-old guy is kickin' yer ass!" ... WTF?!?!?! You are forever
supposed to be 21 and wearing a cape. NO EXCEPTIONS. We 40-y-o's live
vicariously through you. Don't be 40 with us... BE 21 w/cape & AwEsOmE!!!!
heh pretty coincidental I just hand one put into my computer as well...
still no idea how the damn thing works but it's amazingly fast! (thank god
i know enough to place the majority of my files on my HDD)
That twekk you wars talking about, itd probably just doping partii to start
with ssd memory block - it soulu be only required when cloning an existing
partition. Its much better to just make a new instal
Lmao im just imagining all of the people turning their heads and looking at
you waving your hands and talking to yourself while you drive down the
roads xD. Id race you though! Looks like a lot of fun.
Mordeth ever thought about after teaching you could get certified in
computer repair and have a computer shop or work for a firm where you could
translate/help desk? Or is teaching a passion for you?
I would like to get advices about cornering. I have 125cc aprilia rs, and
for some reason, there arent any tracks or even curvy roads so much. So
guestion is, how can i become better in cornering.

WOW found you video on Yamakasi M280PU, and then saw this. Been thinking
about going to Mushkin. Recommend by an associate for being a good SSd
along with affordable prices. Really do like your reviews, please keep it
up. Thank you.
Nice video man short and strong no useless info about looks like other
channels do or about the build quality. Its gowing to be covered in your pc
anyway keep up the good work my friend
+Brometheus_Tv Yeah, I read some meh reviews for Mushkin drives, and OCZ seemed pretty good from what I read, especially their new line Trion (240GB w3yr warranty for 66USD). Kingston was another brand I've been looking at.
Really good question. Before the Eco three I might have told you to look at the alternatives, but this new controller is much better despite only having a small performance boost. This is one of better value SSDs IMO. Plus the three year warranty is quite good considering it only cost $65.
Nice video, I appreciate how you covered all the relevant info and didn't
turn it into a 10 minute video with 8 minutes of useless content like other
reviewers
Haha, thanks. I remember after I had recorded the major specs I said to myself "uhh this is going to be a really short video, but I don't really see what else I could say about it."
