Generally in the Province of Ontario, code 3 is a non emerge call; also known as an urgent call, and does not require lights and siren, but they are optional. Code 4 is for emergencies that require quick response, and lights and siren are mandatory. A unit that is code 3, can be diverted to another call that is requires a code response, if it is the nearest available unit.
