I personally don't see how the massive deviation in skill, line and braking
point can be a good thing. In actual racing the drivers will have every
braking point down to perfection and will have optimised their line. There
will be a very minor deviation in normal racing line depending on their
driving style, but it will otherwise be identical to others. This isn't
bumper cars and the drivers are behaving like it's their first time around
the track! I appreciate the dynamics of it but it isn't as realistic as
people like to believe.
It might not be the most realistic AI there is but look at Gran Turismo, the AI doesn't even acknowledge you in the track, the cars are doing sunday drives on a rail track. It might be a bad example, but it's the most famous Racing Sim out there. The races becomes stale when the challenge is not fighting for positions but instead mastering the track, which once you do, the game becomes incredibly easy. At least with this, the AI can spin you out and have crashes without the famous "Rubberbanding" Kurt hated so much on DiRT and GRiD, and you dont have to resort to Online multiplayer to have an actual challenge.
With a manual transmission, you need to engage the clutch very carefully when starting from a dead stop. If you don't do this, the engine will stall. If you rev the engine, you can engage the clutch faster, which will let you start moving faster. Also, if you do this, you can accelerate faster from standstill by letting the clutch slip.If you rev up before the start of a race, you don't need to do this after the lights go green, so you can immediately engage the clutch and start moving. In a game (with automatic gears), you will just automatically start moving as soon as the lights go green, so you don't need to react to the light anymore.
+Im Nibor So you ask a dumb question, somebody answers reasonably, and then you continue to provoke people, they react, and then you bitch about it? Unbelievable
