Betty's Quick Tip 108--How to Separate Eggs
Betty demonstrates how to separate eggs. It is important when separating eggs to make sure the egg whites are not contaminated with bits of yolk, if you plan to ...
That is how I do it.. My mother in law who has no concept of cooking broke
the egg on a plate and was fishing around to catch the yolk out. I never
laughed so hard in my life when she called me and told me this.... I just
told her to do your way or just put the egg in her hand and let the whites
drip down... I finally had to go over there and show her how. She wanted to
learn how to cook. Hope this made you laugh. It sure did me. Love you Betty
and all you video's
I'm another who has had one of those gizmos for years and never knew what
it was for. I've been separating eggs with the shell that whole time...
Betty's suggestion for using a 'caution bowl' is a good idea, even if I do
start using the tool.
One reason people use the white is to save of fat and calories. The
majority of fat and calories are in the egg yolk. Some people prefer the
white look, and some people prefer the taste of egg white. --Betty :)
It's best to crack on a flat surface like Betty does too. If you crack it
on a bowl, it can push little pieces of the shell into the egg and you'll
have to fish them out afterwards.
another great method is just cracking the egg into your hand, and letting
the white slip through your fingers. As long as you're careful, you don't
even have to worry about shell!
Thank you, I've had this gadget (egg seperator) hiding in a drawer for
years, but didn't know what to do with it. Thanks for the info, slowly
catching up on your videos.
I need to get that spoon! It's amazing! I never eat the yolk purely egg
whites and it's always such a burden to separate them! But this is a really
good tip Thanks!
I'm so glad someone else wasn't sure what to do with that gadget. I've
always separated eggs the way Betty does. I just love to watch Betty, such
a sweet person.
