Pozdrawiam.

Poker Tournament Strategy: How to Play the Nuts(Bet Size Strategy) - █-█otD 53
The 888 Snow Limit Event in Innsbruck, Austria was epic, so I decided to dedicate this whole week, including Hand Of the Day to Poker Tournament Strategy.
Hi Alec - I understand your logic in playing this way. What I don't
understand is what else you can be representing here, seems like a really
bizarre bluff or the nuts/close to it. I'm surprised that the player
didn't feel like he was being sucked in. I can definitely see paying the 5k
on the flop, but I'd get really suspicious (thinking you may have AK) on
the turn and river, unless I had one of the ones that would shove. I think
for me, it would work better to bet larger, because I usually bet larger
and I think the small bet might set off warning bells? Help me understand
please. Thanks!
I think Villain had what The Breakdown aka Poker Guys aPoly refer to as 'entitlement tilt' - eg I've got pocket K's so I 'deserve' to win even though I have every indication I am behind ... Thus I call'Entitlement Tilt'
The difference between pro - Alec and me , I like this video alot. Just
wonder if we smooth call preflop will it be an option , a 4 bet might scare
away AK ,AQ. for flop play i might check hopefully villain will overplay
his hand, i might bet too, because my image when i raise the flop i almost
bet on any flop, if suddenly check look very fishy. I like the bet sizing
that you share. Thanks alec.
ps: if i am villain in this hand, i have pocket king , i will usually 5 bet
back preflop. if i choose to smooth call, when i see the flop, when alec
bet the flop i will either call the flop and shut down after that or raise
the flop and see alec reaction, after that i will shut down. i will not
call the turn bet. whats alec hand range when he can 4 bet? AA KK QQ AK AQ,
some more UTG? Almost all 4 bet range have an ace only KK and QQ. can give
me feedback do what i say make sense to all of you ?
+ChinGuan31 Hey Chin,Good questions. I don't like flatting preflop because my opponent doesn't fold to 4 bet. It's important to consider my range as well from a game theory standpoint, however my opponent wasn't thinking on this level, so I just played my hand straightforward to extract max value. Alec
hey Alex top techniques to learn the game fast and maybe some percentages?
(eg. online zoom/cash games / pros perspective on hands/tips for pros/
forums/books etc )
+Andrei Enut Use PokerStove for equity calculations. I've never been a fan of forums but I know there are some which people find useful, like 2p2 and PocketFives. I'd play online Zoom to get a ton of hands in quickly and get experience. There's no substitute for that.
*BET-SIZING & EXTRACTING VALUE...*
...K, I'll focus on that in this video per your instructions.
***Sidenote: Are you kidding me? Is that backdrop and mountains for real?
Almost looks like a cartoon it's so cool, lol. Fun! Also, just curious if
there were antes at any time in the 888 tourney? and good game!
Cool point also at 3:47 = *goal*
"So, I don't want to 4-bet here too big because I don't want him to fold.
At the same time, people that fit his profile don't really have a 3-betting
range that *isn't strong, so all of his 3-betting range is gonna call a
4-bet* because *he's not really gonna be understanding that I'm NEVER
4-betting LIGHT [vs his type].*
So, even if he has something like Jacks — which is essentially a bluff
catcher vs a 4-bet — he's still not gonna call it preflop.
Therefore, choose sizing that inflates pot a bit more so as to get him
committed preflop *WITHOUT* putting him to an immediate decision for all
his chips preflop!"
Endquote — awesome points; thanks again!
+McGavel1 Thanks man. Yes those mountains were epic, which is why I chose that!Yes the 888 tournament had antes (at this point as well) and it played like a normal event!
Do you think this plays differently in a cash game?
FWIW, I'm sort of surprised, unless you were raising a lot with air, that
he called the flop bet. Yes, it's a small bet, but you opened UTG+1, and 3
bet out of position. Surely an ace of some sort makes up a HUGE amount of
your range. Do you think he was the sort of player who is simply looking at
his kings and in love, or had you balanced your range so well that he
thought you might have QQ or worse?
Also, were the flop and river calls in tempo? Do you think his "resistance
point," the point where he really has to decide whether to continue or not,
was only on the river? I might well bitterly lay down my kings on the flop
if I have Villain's hand, muttering about the hand to myself, but you read
him correctly as willing to go down with the ship with KK. (FWIW, I, too,
am an old rock and freely admit to being exploitable on the flop. But I'm
working on it!)
+Ron Zucker Good question. I don't think it plays much differently, no. Especially vs. this type of player. He's definitely the former, he plays his hand and that's about it.
+Ron Zucker In a cash game it depends on how deep they are. I think villain's 3-bet size would be larger. If it's a $2-$5 game with stacks 100 BB deep, he might 5-bet shove. In this hand villain could have thought he had the best hand preflop, so he didn't want to 5-bet and get him to fold a smaller hand. On the flop the bet was so small he had to call. And combinatorics wise, it's hard for Alec to have AK because he has two KK's. Very unlikely for him to AA because there is an Ace on the flop, and most people don't 4-bet AQ, AJ. On the turn and river I think he just got attached to his hand and didn't want to fold. He knew he was beat, but he "had to call" to see it for himself.
+Ron Zucker Just my thought about your observation, which is a great one, that the key lies in the idea that this player type is not playing many hands and simply waiting for a good one so when he gets one (even something as bad vs a 4-bet as JJ would be) he's playing it cuz he know's it's gonna be a while 'til he gets another. GL never giver up!!!
